Asus creates the arez brand for its radeon graphics cards
Table of contents:
Graphics card manufacturers are gradually starting to align with NVIDIA to gain admission to the exclusive GeForce Partner Program (GPP). Although there is no official confirmation from NVIDIA's AIB partners, small but significant changes are starting to become apparent. The latest rumor suggests that ASUS is going to be the third AIB partner to jump on the GPP bandwagon. The Taiwanese manufacturer is allegedly creating the AREZ brand to accommodate its Radeon graphics cards.
ASUS creates the AREZ brand for its Radeon graphics - The intention is to enter the NVIDIA GPP program
The first example comes from Gigabyte's Aorus line. Gigabyte currently offers the Gaming Box external graphics box with a GeForce GTX 1070, GTX 1080 or Radeon RX 580. If we look closely at the packaging on this particular model, we can see that the box of the RX 580 lacks the Aorus brand.. However, Gigabyte is not alone. MSI seems to be in favor of GPP as well, as they remove all their Radeon Gaming X models from their website, one of them being the Radeon RX 580. The RX 580 models in the Armor line are the only ones that remain. Surprisingly the US website still have those Gaming X models.
There is much controversy regarding the NVIDIA GPP, with much criticism from users who think that it is a monopolistic practice by NVIDIA. Over time we will see what impact it really has for the players.
