Asus designs the x570 crosshair viii impact motherboard in dtx format
Table of contents:
ASUS ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Impact is based on the mini DTX form factor, which is similar to the mini-ITX, but with a slightly longer frame with the intention of adding an additional expansion slot.
X570 Crosshair VIII Impact will come in DTX format
This results in the inclusion of a SO-DIMM.2 slot for PCIe 4.0 M.2 drives, with enough space to also add a heatsink. Underneath is a full-length PCIe 4.0 x16 slot that's lined with an ASUS Steelslot frame. The printed circuit is completely black, as well as the heat sinks of the same color and a mesh cover on the rear panel that has fans to keep the X570 chipset as cool as possible. There are also multiple RGB LED lighting zones that users can customize through ROG Aura Sync software.
Included on the DTX size printed circuit board, the ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact has two M.2 slots and eight SATA ports are included, which is impressive given the form factor of the card. On the network side there is an Intel I112-AT GbE LAN port, and the Impact also benefits from the new Intel AX200 Wi-Fi 6 wireless adapter. An 8-channel Realtek SupremeFX S1220 HD audio codec and an ESS ES9023P HD DAC make up the on-board audio solution.
The Crosshair VIII Impact has two memory slots that support up to 64GB DDR4. The card also features up to eight USB 3.1 G2 ports, four USB 3.1 Gen1 and two USB 2.0 ports.
ASUS is playing with a rare format to introduce it to the mass PC market. They haven't commented on the price and availability yet
