Asus delivers free cooling kits with its tr4 motherboards
Table of contents:
ASUS is aware that AMD's upcoming newer second-generation Threadripper processors are larger than a conventional AM4 socket chip, have more cores, and require much higher power. That is why they are delivering cooling kits with their TR4 motherboards, like the ROG Zenith Extreme, ROG Strix X399-E Gaming, and Prime X399-A.
ROG Zenith Extreme, ROG Strix X399-E Gaming, and Prime X399-A socket TR4 will come with free cooling kits
To better cope with AMD's second-generation Ryzen Threadripper processors, which come with up to four active matrices in the MCM (multi-chip module), ASUS is giving away free cooling kits to owners of its TR4 socket motherboards.
The kits include a bracket that allows us to add a 40mm fan to the VRM heatsink. The "SoC heatsink" is designed to cool the power phase SoC MOSFETs (which now have to support the load of four SoC arrays).
The kit for the Zenith Extreme also includes a 10mm thick and a 40mm fan, which connects to one of its 4-pin PWM heads. The kit will not be included on current or future X399 motherboards not sold by ASUS. Customers who need it will have to contact a local ASUS office, who will verify the purchase of our ASUS X399 motherboard and send a kit for free.
This seems to be a very nice detail on the part of ASUS, although it makes us wonder if the area of the MOSFETs did not get too hot without this kit on those TR4 motherboards, especially if we are going to use a Threadripper 2990WX.
