We recently found out about ASUS ' new ROG Crosshair VI Hero AM4 motherboard, powered by an X370 chipset. Despite the short time, the company has already created an updated version with the name of ROG Crosshair VI Hero Wi-Fi AC. As its name also suggests, the main novelty compared to the previous model is the presence of a 2 × 2 802.11ac Wi-Fi adapter with Mu-MIMO support and Bluetooth 4.1.

ASUS ROG Corsshair VI Hero Wi-Fi AC, technical characteristics

Wi-Fi capabilities are pretty good, but let's take a look at everything else the new Asus motherboard offers.

At the rear, the Crosshair VI Hero comes with an enormous amount of connectivity options: 8 USB 3.0 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, and two USB 3.1 ports, in both Type-A and Type-C formats. As if that wasn't enough, there are additional USB ports in the middle of the board as well, including pins for two other front USB 3.1 ports.

The board does not have any video output, although we assume that anyone who buys this beast will have a dedicated graphics card. Wi-Fi AC connectivity is not the only networking feature as there is also an Intel I1211-AT Gigabit Ethernet controller.

On the other hand, the Crosshair VI Hero Wi-Fi AC also boasts five audio ports on the rear, powered by the Realtek S1220 codec, as well as support for DAC ESS Saber ES9023 technology with an integrated 2V amplifier.

Enthusiasts of liquid cooling solutions will be pleased by the presence of various connectors for ventilation systems, and for overclocking fans, Asus has added dedicated buttons for start, restart and an overclocking control mode.

Finally, the new motherboard also features an M.2 PCIe x 4 socket, eight SATA ports, and two Aura Sync RGB LED headers.

The new ROG Crosshair VI Hero Wi-Fi AC has not yet gone on sale, although considering that the previous model can be purchased for about $ 255, its price could surely exceed $ 300 / euros.
