The next product presented by Asus at Computex 2019 has been the Asus AiMesh AX6600 router system. A system of two Asus RT-AX95Q routers that work under Wi-Fi 6 giving enough coverage for normal-sized houses.

Through these two routers, where each one could perfectly function as an individual router, it is possible to configure a meshed network in a simple and practically automatic way. In it we can navigate at full speed through the house, wherever we are without ever losing the connection. Proof of this was our review of the less powerful model and the results were impressive, both in speed and coverage range

Asus RT-AX95Q and its features

Each of the routers that make up the meshed system, has a Broadcomm BCM6755 4-core and 64-bit processor or another Broadcomm BCM43684 that is capable of offering us triple connectivity in two different bands.

First, a 2 × 2 connection in both the 5GHz and 2.4GHz bands, which, for practical purposes, will be the one that connects us to our electronic devices. Secondly, we have another connection in the 5 GHz 4 × 4 band at 4, 804 Mbps that in the meshed system works as a trunk connection between both routers. If we use a router independently, this 4 × 4 connection will be enabled to work normally on our devices. It is exactly what happens in the AiMesh AX100 system only that the bandwidth has been increased about 500 Mbps more.

But in addition to Wi-Fi connectivity, we also have high-level wired and Ethernet connectivity. These powerful processors support up to 3 1Gbps LAN ports and one 2.5Gbps LAN port, which will also function as a WAN port for the main router. What does this mean? Well, if we connect two PCs in each router at 2.5 Gbps we will have a high-speed Mesh system where the data can be passed practically as if we were in a wired network. What's more, there would be plenty of bandwidth to support more connected equipment.

The power that OFDMA technology gives us in terms of the ability to manage a large number of connected devices is one of the main characteristics of Wi-Fi 6, even more important than pure bandwidth.

Elegant and decorative design

In this case, the design of the routers is far from the aggressive ROG design that was used in the AX6100 system. In this case, we have aesthetically cleaner routers in their lines and also with the antennas located inside, specifically 6 of them in each router. Notice that they are placed vertically, which helps to improve coverage without the need to take antennas outside.

As with the other Asus AiMesh systems, we have the possibility of integrating other routers that we have older than the brand in order to form an even larger Mesh network. This is possible thanks to the complete firmware that these routers have and to the backward compatibility that the 802.11ax protocol offers with previous versions.

We recommend our guide to the best routers on the market

Without a doubt, one of the most powerful options currently on the market when it comes to meshed networks, remember that in our review of the AX6100 we obtained an internal range of about 550 m2 with only two routers, which is a lot. Asus has not yet given information on the specific launch date of this Asus AiMesh AX6600 or the official price, although we hope that it will come true during the summer or fourth quarter of 2019 at the latest. The price should be around 450 euros approximately in this pack of two routers.
