Asus unveils esc g2 series of gpu servers and workstations
Due to the use of applications that require enormous computing power and scalability, GPU computing plays a key role in the HPC market. ASUS ESC4000 G2, ESC2000 G2 and ESC1000 G2 servers and workstations offer highly advanced hybrid performance, compute density, notable graphics enhancements, and expanded expansion capabilities. Support for four graphics and up to two Intel® processors ensures more than enough performance for all types of applications. Reliably, they have redundant Intel® Ethernet and 80 PLUS power supplies. They feature PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion slots, features like hot-plugging of storage drives, compatibility with ASUS PIKE cards, ASUS SSD Caching and InfiniBand.
ASUS presents three new models for different professional profiles
The ESC G2 Series has three products designed for the needs of professional sectors such as engineering, medical research, financial modeling, graphing, and animation. The ESC4000 G2 is a server with powerful multi-GPU performance while the ESC2000 G2 and ESC1000 G2 are high-density workstation equipment. With support for 4 graphics, the latest processors specifically created for servers / workstations and the capacity to host up to 512GB of DDR3 memory, the design of the three models puts a clear emphasis on hybrid computing. The ESC4000 G2 and ESC2000 G2 incorporate a dual socket design that allows two CPUs to be installed, while the ESC1000 G2 incorporates a single socket.
New servers offer increased reliability and expanded expansion capabilities
The ESC4000 G2 incorporates an 8 + 1 expansion design, while the ESC2000 G2 has seven slots and the ESC1000 G2 six. To ensure the necessary stability for professional applications, all three models have hard drives that can be swapped while the equipment is running, ensuring continuity of service even if maintenance or system improvements are required. Additionally, dual Intel® Ethernet expands available bandwidth and improves connection stability with technologies such as double fault tolerance and teaming.
In terms of power and energy savings, the ESC G2 series models incorporate 80 PLUS power supplies, ensuring high energy efficiency for the entire series. However, thanks to its two 1620W 80 PLUS Platinum power supplies, the ESC4000 G2 model offers superior redundancy and surge protection, while the ESC2000 G2 and ESC1000 G2 references have a single 1350W 80 PLUS Gold power supply.
ESC4000 G2 - Specific functions
As a premium model, the ESC4000 G2 offers the highest computational potential of the three models. It is a hybrid 2U format HPC server built for engineering, science, medical research, financial modeling, science applications, and virtualization. It allows to install two Intel® E5-2600 processors with a maximum consumption of 135W, incorporates eight PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion slots and an extra dedicated slot to expand the possibilities and compatibility of RAID storage via ASUS PIKE cards. At the same time, the InfiniBand ™ interconnection standard accelerates the transmission of data between nodes to 56Gb / s and, at a level of reliability, this model has the intelligent dissipation system System Fan Control II, which independently regulates the fans to charge of the CPU and GPU area. With support for up to four dedicated graphics, the ESC4000 G2 incorporates two fans that double the airflow and ensure the ventilation required to carry out heavy duty for professional applications in a comfortable way.
ESC2000 G2 and ESC1000 G2 - Specific functions
The ESC2000 G2 brings together the functionalities of a GPU / workstation server in a tower type format, while the ESC1000 G2 is a workstation equipment with a clear graphic vocation. Both are dedicated for supercomputing applications and have advanced hybrid computing capabilities. The ESC2000 G2 supports two Intel® Xeon® E5-2600 processors and up to four graphics and also has seven PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion slots. The ESC1000 G2, on the other hand, supports a single Intel® Xeon® processor E5-1600 or Intel® CoreTM i7-3900 / 3800 and mounts six PCI Express 3.0 x16 expansion slots. Both models incorporate ASUS SSD Caching technology, which optimizes hybrid storage between SSD and mechanical drives, reducing up to three times the time necessary to carry out common tasks. It should also be noted that in order to offer a more advanced multimedia experience, both models integrate DTS® Ultra PC II technology.
