During the Computex 2017 event, ASUS presented its new pair of high-end gaming headsets, the ROG (Republic of Gamers) Centurion 7.1. Here we reveal all the details about the new headphones.

ROG Centurion 7.1, new high-end headphones for gamers from ASUS

The new ASUS headphones provide a true 7.1 audio system even if you don't have 8-channel analog jacks, especially since these headphones take input from HDMI ports.

Almost all modern graphics cards and graphics solutions built into motherboards today bring 7.1-channel digital audio routed through the HDMI ports. These ASUS headphones allow you to connect them to this type of port so you can enjoy some exclusive digital signal processors to these solutions, so ASUS no longer had to certify its USB DACs with them.

For example, NVIDIA recently added the Dolby Atmos system to its graphics card audio technologies through a recent update to its drivers. Both NVIDIA and AMD have support for the most popular digital signal processors on the market.

The new ROG Centurion 7.1 have 10 independent sound drivers, a pair of 40mm front speakers, a 40mm subwoofer, 30mm center speakers (one for each ear), 20mm side speakers, and rear speakers 20 mm.

ASUS guarantees environmental noise cancellation of up to 90% with the new ROG Centurion 7.1, although it did not say whether it is an active noise cancellation system (through detreuctive interference) or simply good sound insulation through the design of the headphones.

The sound drivers are powered by an ESS 9601 amplifier chip, and the headphones also allow you to make use of the included DAC pod with a USB connection. Even without the availability of a good DSP, the ROG Centurion 7.1 will give you unbeatable sound during your gaming games.
