We continue to present you more motherboards for the LGA 2066 platform, but this time an entry-level one. The Asus Prime X299-A is an ATX format motherboard that meets the needs of 95% of users: sober design, power, high-efficiency components and a price that will range from 200 euros .

Although the design of the Asus Prime X299-A is not as beautiful as that of the Asus ROG or TUF series, it has its essence… It combines the colors: black, gray and white on the PCB, all its connections and its heatsinks. It is powered by a 24-pin ATX connection, an 8-pin EPS + 4 extra EPS connection.

Among its features it has 8 DDR4 sockets compatible with Quad Channel technology, RAM memory is compatible with Intel's XMP 2.0 profile and incorporates the new X299 chipset that will allow us to install the new Skylake X processors from the LGA 2066 socket.

Regarding the distribution of PCI Express connections, it has three PCI Express x16 connections, two PCI Express x4 connections and one PCI Express to x1 connections. That allows us to install graphics cards with the following configuration: x16 / x16 / without connecting a graphics card or x16 / x8 / x8.

While in storage it is equipped with 8 SATA III connections and two M.2 NVMe connections at 32 Gb / s (measures from 80 to 110 mm). Considering its low price, this setup is a joy. Finally, it has a single Intel i219-V network card and a sound card signed by the Realtek ALC1220 chipset compatible with professional helmets.

Availability and price

As we have already commented at the beginning of the article, its price will be around 200 euros, not bad right? Possibly one of the cheapest X299 motherboards that we will find on the market on the day of its launch.

While its availability is estimated over the second half of June, so we have the X299 platform just around the corner.
