Unboxing and design

The Asus Prime X370-PRO comes to us in a small box. We see an image of the motherboard and in large letters the specific model that we have purchased.

While in the back area details all the benefits of the motherboard.

Once we open the box we see two areas. The first that separates the motherboard and the second all the accessories it includes. We detail the bundle that incorporates:

The Asus Prime X370-PRO features a classic ATX format with dimensions of 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm for this new AM4 socket. The board has a sober design as is so characteristic for the Asus PRIME series. Although we liked that it incorporates a matte black PCB with white details in the area of the heatsinks, connectors and screen printing. As a good mid / high range motherboard it incorporates the most powerful chipset: the X370. Its compatibility is absolute with the main AMD Ryzen processors in its Ryzen 7, 5, 3 series and the Athlon ones.

The Asus Prime X370-PRO features two zones with cooling: power phases and one for the X370 chipset. Basically it incorporates improved Digi + components: 10 power phases, chokes, capacitors of better quality than the rest of the most basic range.

The board incorporates a total of 4 DDR4 RAM memory sockets compatible with up to 64 GB with frequencies from 3200 MHz in Dual Channel.

The layout of your PCI Express connections is pretty good. It has three PCIe 3.0 to x16 slots and another three normal PCIe to x1. The PCI Express 3.0 to x16 incorporate a "Safe Slot" armor that improves and cushions the graphics so heavy that they exist on the market today. As expected natively supports the installation of two graphics cards in SLI of Nvidia as CrossfireX.

The sound card is signed by the Realtek ALC S1220A chip that palpably improves the sound of the previous generation. It has very good quality in its 8 channels and, as expected, compatibility with high-end headphones.

Regarding storage, it has eight 6 GB / s SATA III connections with support for RAID 0.1, 5 and 10. And next to it we have an internal USB 3.1 Type-C head.

As we have commented during the analysis, the design is more sober but not for this reason Asus has decided to incorporate small details of RGB lighting in the chipset heatsink and in the Audio area. It allows us to choose a palette of 16.8 million colors and as we were saying it is not very intrusive. In case you don't like it… you can choose to disable it from the BIOS.

Finally we detail the rear connections of the Asus Prime X370-PRO that are made up of:

To check the stability of AMD Ryzen 7 1700 to 3700 MHZ processor and motherboard we have stressed with Prime 95 Custom and air cooling. The graphics we have used is an Nvidia GTX1080, without further delay, let's see the results obtained in our tests with a 1920 × 1080 monitor.

BIOS

As expected, it maintains the same BIOS as the entire Asus X370 series. It allows us to manage any important parameters of the motherboard, manage hard drives, monitor temperatures and overclock. You sure like it as much as we do.

Final words and conclusion about Asus Prime X370-PRO

The Asus Prime X370-PRO is one of the best X370 motherboards, although aesthetically it is not the most striking or attractive to the user, the quality of its components and construction are excellent.

Thanks to its 10 power phases and the AMD Ryzen Master application we have been able to go up to 3700 MHz with the stock sink to the Ryzen 7 1700. With a better cooling system we could reach up to 4 GHz without any problem.

For lovers of colored lights, it incorporates the AURA RGB lighting system. Although it is not one of the boards that most impact, but it incorporates it in two areas: heatsink of the chipset and the sound card.
