We have with us the brand new and brand new Asus ROG Balteus Qi mouse pad , a very special mouse pad because it is not just a mouse pad I use, not at all. It is a hard mat with a very fast surface and RGB Asus Aura Sync lighting on all its side. The brand has taken the opportunity to introduce a USB 2.0 port and also a Qi wireless charger, as you see much more than a mat.

Who would say that mouse pads would reach this level? Technology advances and with it absolutely all the peripherals of our PC. Asus presents an unrivaled gaming mat, such as this Asus ROG Balteus Qi.

Being a hard mat, and of important dimensions, the box is also. We are dealing with a premium packaging made of hard cardboard and with Asus's own color palette. It shows a color photo of the mat with active RGB lighting and the model in silver letters.

Behind it there was no lack of information about the product that we will see throughout this analysis.

Inside the box with horizontal opening, we have a product well accommodated in a black plastic mold and in turn wrapped in a plastic bag. In a separate compartment we have the Micro USB cable that will provide power to the wireless charger, and also the connection cable of the mat consisting of a double USB for data + lighting.

We see here in detail the commented cable. Nor could the instruction manual and a rigid sticker with the Asus ROG logo be missing to stick it on our chassis (or wherever we want).

Asus ROG Balteus Qi is a mat with a rigid design and quite generous measures. Its normal position would be vertically, being then longer than wide, in this way it would not hinder the wireless charger in case we wanted to use it. As soon as we see it, we appreciate quality in absolutely every corner.

The measurements of the mat are 370 mm high by 320 mm wide with a considerable thickness of 7.9 mm. With these measures we can not consider it to be XL size, although it is slightly larger than others on the market.

Being a mat, the least we can do is pay special attention to the displacement surface. It is a finish in hard micro textured plastic in all its extension that allows us super fast movements. Fast enough to be difficult to control the mouse at first for precision movements if we do not brake with our lateral fingers. This makes it ideal for gaming and FPS games.

The edge finishes are beveled to provide greater arm and hand ergonomics. Especially in the lower area we have a bevel with a smoother inclination for better comfort. These edges are finished in hard plastic and of course the lighting strip is located here.

The Asus ROG Balteus Qi base is made of non-slip rubber with a nice ROG cyberpunk motif widely used in the brand's ROG range. We must say that despite being a rigid mouse pad, it clings to the ground perfectly, and remains completely stable in the place where it is placed, be it glass or wood. Good design work here.

We got to the front of this mat to see, first on the left side the wireless charger, and then the element that controls the Asus ROG Balteus Qi connection interface. It is an induction Qi wireless charger compatible with devices such as Smartphone and others. We have not had any problem using it on new or old Smartphone. The speed of the charge will depend on the USB to which it is connected, of course.

In the right area we have the interface controller and the connections. It is a round element of small size and made of metal. From it comes the braided USB cable that will connect to our PC to provide power to the addressable RGB lighting and communication with the Asus software. It will also be necessary for data transfer from the USB 2.0 port, which is also located in this area. In it we can connect any mouse with or without lighting, so it will work as a normal USB of our PC.

In addition, we have another Mini USB port that powers the Qi charger. And we are not done yet, because if we prefer, we will also have a button just in the side area of this element to manually control the RGB LED lighting. Of course the management will be more advanced with the software.

We come to the lighting section to review what Asus ROG Balteus Qi has to offer. It is an Asus product, so the most normal thing is to find the Aura Sync system inside. The outer edge consists of 15 independent addressable zones (15 LEDs) that we can manage from the Asus Aura software, or from the Asus Armory. This system includes the typical animations of Aura and its 16.8 million colors. In the upper area we also have lighting on the Asus logo.

We will start with the management using the Asus Armory II software, as it is, under our consideration, the most complete and suitable for this mat. In it we can configure up to 3 different lighting and configuration profiles. In the main section, we have the real-time status of the mat, as well as an indicator if the charger is being used.

We will also have a complete section to configure the lighting and its animations. With this software we can also create macros, although obviously only with software and keyboard. Similarly, we can synchronize lighting with other Aura devices, without the need for specific lighting software. We will need at least two devices to do this.

On the other hand, we also have the Aura software for complete lighting management. The great advantage of this one over the previous one, is that we can address the configuration individually of each of the LEDs that make up the system. in this way we can create complete profiles of different layers with different animations.

Really complete and necessary for this mat, if we want a more specific customization of lighting.

Experience and final words about Asus ROG Balteus Qi

We leave our experience of use with Asus ROG Balteus Qi for the conclusions, which is how it should be. Due to its design and performance, there is no doubt that it is a gaming mat in every sense of the word. The navigation speed of any mouse is going to be very high, and this makes it a product not suitable for all audiences. We will get a huge performance in games getting used to it, but for precision work such as design, it is not the most indicated, precisely because of the type of surface.

The design work is exquisite, as it is a rigid mat we have the great advantage of its firm support and durability, at the level of the best. The side, top and bottom finishes are very Premium, without defects and without badly finished edges. The grip is firm and the surface is completely flat, the size is also very suitable, neither small nor too large with a large range of movements.

Another obvious advantage is the availability of a Qi charger, if we have a compatible mobile, it will be a very attractive option, but if we are not interested in its use, the normal thing will be to opt for the normal ROG Balteus, which is cheaper of course and only the Qi charger is removed, everything else remains.
