Asus rog cetra review in Spanish (full analysis)

Table of contents:

The headphone market is one of the most competitive today, especially with the arrival in Europe of a large number of Chinese manufacturers who intend to imitate the big ones with breakthrough prices. Today we have with us the Asus ROG Cetra, an in-hear headset with a USB Type-C connector that practically sweeps everyone else, and not for price, but for the audio quality it gives us and its active noise cancellation system .

Asus always bets on the highest quality, although we must pay important figures, the most demanding users will be in luck with what we analyze today.

And before we continue, we thank Asus for their trust and collaboration with us in providing us with these headphones for our review.

ASUS ROG Cetra technical features

Unboxing

We start with the exquisite presentation of the ASUS ROG Cetra, headphones that come in a rigid and solid cardboard box of great quality and of considerable size for how small these headphones are. In the case of a ROG product, we have the box completely covered in gray and red vinyl with photographs of the headphones, as well as their accessories along with a description of them.

The box is opened at the top, the lid of which is fixed by a magnet, which means that we are dealing with a Premium product. Inside, we have a large high-density black foam mold that keeps all the elements perfectly fixed.

In this way, we find the following elements inside:

  • ASUS ROG Cetra Headphones Carrying Hard Case 4x Pairs of Different Size Pads 3x Pairs of Ear Tip Fins Clothes Attachment System User Manual

Undoubtedly a highly detailed bundle, in which we have 3 pairs of pads with integrated filter and another set of soft foam pads to choose the one that we like the most. The strange sideburns we will see a little later what they are, and regarding the clip for attachment to clothing, it is a great detail to include it. With it we can fix the cables to our outfit, for example, on the edge of the shirt or in a pocket.

Design and accessories

Let's go little by little looking at the design of these ASUS ROG Cetra, which, although it seems that they have few secrets, the truth is that they keep the odd interesting detail for ergonomics.

Asus wants to enter through the big door of the in-hear headphones with one of the sets of highest performance and quality that we have tested. It is a ROG product, so the price will be a secondary element for those who do not want to make a mistake in their purchase.

These are headphones in-ear or in-hear configuration that are made of high quality aluminum and plastic. The button of each driver is made up of the typical box where the speaker and the projection that will enter our ear are stored. In this case it is remarkably curved inwards to improve the fixation to the interior and thus improve the insulation.

For the front, we have four sets of pads to adapt to any user. Three pairs are traditional rubber pads, with high flexibility and a small filter integrated at their end. The fourth set is all about foam ear pads with a smooth finish that will fit virtually any ear. For me they are the ones that I liked the most, and being smooth on the outside the insulation is just as good as the rubber ones.

We have a second element integrated in these drivers, which are a kind of tip fins that we can remove and put without problems, of which 3 games are included. Its function is to better fix the earpiece to the ear by putting that kind of flexible rubber tip in the front hollow of the ear, whose name I do not know. In my case I have not made use of them, since the traditional restraint is enough for me and I only feel that they hinder me a little.

We continue backwards and there we are going to find the screen printed Asus ROG logo with red LED lighting to decorate our dark nights. A nice detail of the ASUS ROG Cetra that give it a very personal gaming aspect. This time we have no RGB system, which could have been included as icing on the cake. Another important element will be the small hole in this area, which, as you have guessed, is for the microphones of the active noise cancellation system.

The entry of the cables has been made through two notorious flexible rubber connectors that will prevent the main cable from breaking due to use at all costs. The control system is located in the middle of the 1.25m long connecting cable. It has four buttons whose operation we will see in the next section. And we also do not forget the microphone located approximately at the level of the neck in one of the cables.

Last and not least, we have the case to store our headphones, which is made of hard plastic and high quality fabric with a slight cushioning inside so that they are not damaged. Of course, it is something big so it will be difficult to carry it in your pocket. As you can see, there are many details to analyze and its function in these ASUS ROG Cetra, demonstrating that the manufacturer has carried out a detailed design exercise.

ASUS ROG Cetra Features

We now enter the section where we detail all the technical characteristics of the ASUS ROG Cetra, giving more meaning to everything we have already seen in the design.

Very high quality drivers

Let's start with the performance of the drivers, some Asus Assence 10.8 mm that will give us a very high fidelity sound thanks to a frequency response of 20 Hz to 40, 000 Hz with a very small impedance of 16 Ω. As we always say, the human ear only hears sounds up to 20, 000 Hz, so reaching 40, 000 Hz is a sign of power on the part of the manufacturer. We do not have data about the sensitivity of these headphones, but we already tell you that it will be around 112 dBA judging by its power.

Now we go a little further down, to the main microphone, located mid-distance on one of the headphone cables. It has an omnidirectional pickup pattern, and a response frequency between 50Hz and 10, 000Hz, which is very good in order to be able to capture quite serious sounds.

The sound that these small drivers give us is surprisingly the least. With a perfect balance in frequencies, deep bass and above all the great detail with which it reproduces sounds. Unless you have WAV tracks, you will notice the difference between average headphones and these little wonders. In addition, it allows us a very high sound power without distortion, even more than what our ears can support for a long time. It can certainly be one of the best in-ear headphones with integrated DAC on the market.

With integrated ANC

Now is the ideal time to see what functions the sound control of these headphones gives us. It is a relatively long, although narrow element, inside which is the DAC (Analog-Digital Decoder) that transforms the sound signal from the PC into an analog signal for the drivers. And the truth is that this area heats up a little after a while of use.

In the visible part we have a total of four buttons, three above, and one quite interesting side. The three above will be used to increase and decrease volume (extreme) and to pause / play the audio track (center). With the side button we control the integrated ANC with three different modes depending on the pulse:

  1. ANC on: A white light will stay on with steady lighting. Ambient Mode: The white light will blink in this mode. ANC off: normal mode, the light will be off.

For those who do not know what this is about ANC (Active Noise Canceling), it is a system with which the sound waves of environmental noises are captured through microphones. The system creates an inverse sound wave to that captured and adds the two so that they cancel each other out, in this way the ambient noise that reaches us is canceled. We have seen before that each driver has its own integrated microphone at the back.

And does this work? Well it works and very well indeed, because the sound quality is perfect even in relatively noisy environments. In addition, the passive filter made by the driver pads themselves will help us a lot.

You may wonder what the ambient mode is, because what this does is to lower the sound volume of what we hear and automatically increase what the microphones pick up from the outside. It is intended to be used when talking to us, or when we cross a crosswalk. I would say that they capture more noise than there really is in the environment, but this function is appreciated.

USB Typo-C connectivity

With everything seen, we already know that the connectivity of the ASUS ROG Cetra is USB-C type. The standard with which we are all going to finish at any given time, as it is the smallest, the most compatible and the fastest.

This gives us the possibility to connect our headphones to practically any type of Android Smartphone, at least with the Mi 9 T I have not had any problem using all the functions including the call . Asus certifies compatibility with this Android, PC, Mac and Nintendo Switch system. In the event that we do not have USB-C in our equipment, we will have to make use of a Type-C to Type-A converter.

Asus ROG Armory Software

Another advantage of being USB-C is that we can manage the ASUS ROG Cetra using the Asys ROG Armory II software. This gives us a wide range of controls to customize the sound output from the speakers as much as possible. Among them is the microphone control, equalizer, or enhancement options such as reverb mode or the Voice clarity system to emphasize the fragments we speak.

It also allows you to activate virtual surround mode, although we have tested it and the difference with stereo is practically nil in this case. This is more geared towards circumaural headsets where the drivers are larger.

Final words and conclusion about ASUS ROG Cetra

Taking stock of what we've seen (and heard), the most important quality of these ASUS ROG Cetra is their sound quality, giving us a listening experience at the level of iconic products like Razer and other teams that don't use integrated DAC. The detailed audio, the excellent balance between frequencies or the ANC system make it one of the best devices with USB-C connectivity available.

Precisely its sound cancellation system (ANC) is at a very good level, with microphones in both drivers and even an ambient mode that lowers the music and increases what the microphones capture for moments when we need to quickly pay attention to our surroundings without lowering the volume.

And we must also highlight its excellent design and ergonomics, with an aluminum body and illumination on the screen-printed logo together with a minimum weight of 26 grams. In addition, it includes 4 sets of pads of which some are very comfortable foam and that isolate phenomenally noise. Of course, the rubber fin system has not been very useful, although we can remove them without problems.

We really liked this USB-C connection, without a doubt the present and future, especially on Smartphone. In this way we have wide compatibility and the possibility of having gaming headphones on our Asus ROG Phone or other terminal. To this we add the possibility of managing them through Armory on PC.

Few cons we can get out of these ASUS ROG Cetra, perhaps the only one is its price, since when they go on sale they will be around $ 115 for lack of official confirmation. They are not headphones for everyone, but we believe that the price more than justifies what they offer us, so for us it is a more than recommended product if we can afford it.
