Asus X99 Deluxe II unboxing and design
The motherboard came to us in neutral packaging so we cannot offer you the box that will be sold together with the motherboard. So we go directly to talk about its technical characteristics.
The Asus X99 Deluxe II is an ATX format motherboard with dimensions of 30.5 cm x 24.4 cm for the LGA 2011-v3 socket. As you can see the motherboard does not have the final market design, since the chipset heatsinks and the power phases come without the white housing. The PCB color is matte black.
It is compatible with the “old” Intel Haswell-E processors and those that today we have released their Intel Broadwell-E review.
Rear view of the motherboard, for the most curious.
The Asus X99 Deluxe II has Digi + technology in its 8 power phases, it also incorporates an extra phase for DDR4 RAM memory channel.
Regarding cooling, it has four robust heatsinks that are responsible for cooling both the power supply phases and the chipset. Unlike the Asus X99-E they have not exceeded 43ºC, so it is capable of withstanding much more "battle" of overclocking.
Detail of the 8 + 4-pin EPS connection for auxiliary power to the motherboard.
The board incorporates a total of 8 128 GB compatible DDR4 RAM memory sockets with frequencies from 2400 MHz to 3333 MHz in Quad Channel and is compatible with the XMP 2.0 profile.
The Asus X99 Deluxe II presents a very complete distribution with five PCIe 3.0 to x16 slots and a single normal PCIe to x1. The PCI Express 3.0 to x16 incorporate a shield (minus the second slot) that better dampens the graphics that are so heavy that they are on the market today and improves transfer.
It is compatible with Nvidia and AMD graphics cards . In SLI you can only connect two cards to x8-x8, while in CrossFireX up to 3. With the following distribution:
40-Lane CPU: 4 x PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 x16:
- 1 x16 graphics card x16 / x16 graphics cards x16 / x16 / x8 graphics cards With 5 x8 / x8 / x8 / x8 / x8 cards.
28-Lane CPU:
- 3 x PCIe 3.0 / 2.0 x16 (x16, x16 / x8, x8 / x8 / x8). 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (x1 mode). 1 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (max. To x4 mode). 1 x PCIe 2.0 x1.

Here we see two U.2 connections
As expected, it incorporates an M.2 connection to install any SSD with type 2242/2260/2280/22110 format (42/60/80 and 110 mm). As we have already discussed, these devices are very fast and have a bandwidth speed of up to 32 GB / s.
Regarding storage, it has eight 6 GB / s SATA III connections with RAID 0.1, 5 and 10 support, one SATA Express connection (those that are vertical) and it has a second high-speed U.2 connection 32 GB / s. It also incorporates a sound card with the ALC1150 chipset with compatibility with 7.1 channels that thanks to Crystal Sound technology that incorporates premium Japanese capacitors, sound amplifier, anti-pop circuit, its own power supply and isolation from noise caused by other components.
One of its final appearance:
Finally we detail the rear connections of the Asus X99 Deluxe II. They are made up of:
- 1 x BIOS Flash Button. 2 x Network Card. 11 x USB 3.0.1 X USB 3.1 Type A and Type C. 1 x 3 × 3 Network Card. 7.1 Sound Output.

BIOS
The BIOS of the Asus X99 Deluxe 2 is fantastic as it has everything a high-end motherboard can have. Excellent features, options to overclock, control the liquid cooling pump, fans and create your own profiles.
Final words and conclusion about Asus X99 Deluxe II
The Asus X99 Deluxe II has an 8 + 4 power phase system with Digi + technology, compatibility with up to 128 GB DDR4 at 3333 MHz and the possibility of mounting a high-quality multi-GPU system.
One of the most important points is the possibility of connecting up to 8 SATA III disks, two SATA Express connections, M.2 connector. (although it is vertical) and two U.2 connections. which will be the next standard for hard drives.
In short, we are facing one of the best motherboards on the market and that is 100% compatible with Intel Broadwell-E. Its price in store will fluctuate approximately 400 euros. For some they will be expensive but it really is worth investing in.
