Asus X99 Strix and Asus X99-E. With the imminent arrival of new Intel Broadwell-E processors, major motherboard manufacturers are rushing to get their new models ready when they receive the most advanced processors ever made. One of the biggest manufacturers is Asus who has already started showing off its new 2011-3 LGA socket motherboards for Intel Boradwell-E.

Asus X99 Strix ($ 339)

The Asus X99 Strix arrives with the new monochrome theme that Asus has recently started using and that offers a spectacular aesthetic. The board comes in black and orange with an attractive RGB lighting system so users can change the color of the i / o panel lighting and the heatsinks to their liking.

The Asus X99 Strix motherboard includes a powerful 8-phase Digi + III VRM that is powered by an 8 + 4-pin connector to ensure sufficient power supply. Surrounding the processor are a total of eight DDR4 DIMM slots capable of holding memory with a maximum frequency of 3, 333 MHz (OC +) to achieve maximum Broadwell-E performance.

As for the graphics, it has four PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots (x16 / x8 / x16 / x8 electric) that will allow us to design a team with enormous potential for video games. We continue to see its expansion slots with two PCI-E 3.0 x1 and one M.2 slot just below the sink's PCH. Finally we find 10 SATA III ports, 1 SATA Express port and one U.2 port. PCI-E slots are accompanied by customizable RGB lighting.

ASUS X99 E ($ 219)

We now turn to see a model more trimmed in features for tight pockets that want to make the leap to the LGA 2011-3 platform. The ASUS X99 E is an inexpensive LGA 2011-3 socket board that is powered by an 8-phase VRM covered by an aluminum heatsink. This time we also have eight DDR4 DIMM slots with memory support at a maximum of 3, 200 MHz (OC +)

Among the rest of the features of the ASUS X99 E we find three PCI-E 3.0 x16 slots for graphics cards, two PCI-E 3.0 x1 slots, 10 SATA III ports, one SATA Express port and one M.2 port. Of course there is no shortage of great connection possibilities thanks to the presence of USB 3.1 Type-C, USB 3.0, high-quality eight-channel audio, Cristal Sound 3 and Gigabit Ethernet connection.
