Automatic Resolution Rendering takes advantage of a technology that has been invented in consoles, at the dynamic resolution scale, which allows game resolution to vary depending on the GPU load, thus allowing games to achieve higher resolutions in scenes less demanding. Thanks to this technique , framerate drops are minimized, at the cost of obtaining a lower resolution in specific scenes. This solution can even force virtual reality devices to run at a higher resolution than native resolution, offering users to be super-sampled if possible.

This technique will not require user intervention and applies to all SteamVR-compatible systems, including HTC Vive, Vive Pro, Oculus Rift, and Windows MR headsets. This option can be disabled manually if users prefer a fixed resolution even at the cost of performance.
