ITX formats are all the rage and the launch of the new B450 chipset is driving it even further. The B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI motherboard with 4 + 2 power phases, a renewed design, top quality components and a powerful heatsink for NVME M.2 storage.

Do you want to know more about this new motherboard? Will it measure up? Will it perform the same as an ATX? Don't miss our review! We begin.

We are grateful to Aorus for the trust placed in transferring the product to us for analysis.

B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI comes in a very compact and colorful box. The case design follows the typical pattern of the Aorus series: Black and orange. With excellent print quality, its falcon logo and the main certifications that guarantee it as a TOP motherboard.

While in the back we find all the detailed technical specifications and their benefits. We continue!

Once we opened the box, we found the motherboard packed in an antistatic bag. And accompanied by a large number of accessories. The bundle is made up of:

  • ITX B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI Motherboard 2 x SAT Cable Set Instruction Manual Quick Guide Back Plate Wifi Antennas

B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI is committed to a Mini ITX form factor, which makes it ideal for lovers of small PCs. It has dimensions of 17 x 17 cm and a design with a black PCB and gray heatsinks. At first glance, all components are of high quality to ensure excellent durability and performance.

View of the rear of the motherboard. We are surprised that it does not incorporate a second M.2 connection in this area . That during the last generations it has become quite common.

In the center of the motherboard we see its AM4 socket, which is powered by 4 + 2 power phases. It is true that it is not the ITX motherboard with more power phases that we have tested in this socket, but we can assure you that they are more than enough to overclock the AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD Ryzen 7 of the second generation.

The AM4 socket is accompanied by the B450 chipset, which is already compatible from its first BIOS with the second generation of AMD Ryzen. This chipset allows us to overclock the processor and RAM memory. Nice set designed by Aorus!

The system is powered by a 24-pin ATX connector and an 8-pin auxiliary EPS connector with Solid Pin Power Connectors technology. As we have already mentioned, we find it strange but also gratifying that the heatsinks do not incorporate RGB lights.

The problem with Mini ITX motherboards is that it limits us to a single PCI Express 3.0 x16 connection, so it will be impossible to mount more than one graphics card. This slot has Ultra Durable PCIe Armor technology, it offers a reinforcement in the connection structure. Mitigating the typical problem of the high weight of the most powerful and heavy cards on the market. In addition to improving conductivity?

At the storage level, it has a total of four SATA III ports for RAID 0, 1 and 10 compatible hard drives. Surprisingly complemented by a single M.2 slots for NVMe SSDs. Surprising because manufacturers usually have us used to include two.

However, it is good to emphasize that Gigabyte has decided to improve it with a dense and robust heatsink, so that this fast unit can maintain its maximum speed during long hours of use. In addition to improving transfer, it improves the longevity of our storage memory.

View of the thermal pad and heatsink. For its installation, obviously, we must remove the blue plastic. It is time to talk about your sound card. We came across a classic chipset, such as the Realtek ALC1220-VB with high-quality capacitors such as Chemicons and compatibility with high-end headphones, thanks to its high-performance amplifier.

Although in the heatsinks we do not have RGB lighting, we do have it in the rear area of the motherboard. We have an LED row that allows us to customize it with 16.8 million colors, thanks to RGB Fusion technology.

We remind you that if you have other Gigabyte or Aorus components, you can synchronize it and go hand in hand with lighting effects.

With Smart Fan 5 technology we have five monitoring sensors (VRM, CHOKES, processor, M.2 and graphics card) from the BIOS. In addition to having two PWM Hybrid connections. Wait Hybrids? We explain, this means that it allows us to connect from classic fans, fans with high amperage, liquid cooling, high performance pumps for RL such as the D5 or water flow sensors.

We also found the incorporation of FAN STOP technology interesting. As the name implies, it will leave the fans on if the equipment is in good temperatures, helping to reduce noise to a minimum from our system. Obviously, it will be activated when temperatures rise and thus reduce the impact of temperature due to high load. Nothing bad!

Among the rear connections we will find the following:

  • DisplayPort2 x HDMI connections 2 x USB 3.1 Gen 2 connections (red ones) 4 x USB 3.1 Gen 1 connections RJ-45 network card x SMA antenna connectors (2T2R) Sound card connectors

BIOS

As expected the B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI motherboard brings all the options of its older sisters.

Like ATX format motherboards, it allows us to control the speed of the fans, overclock at very good performance and carry advanced monitoring of the entire system. Hood for Aorus!

Final words and conclusion about B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI

The B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI is one of the best ITX format motherboards we currently find for the AM4 socket. It allows us to install latest generation AMD Ryzen 3, 5 and 7 processors, up to 32 GB of 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM, 4 SATA storage connections and an NVME and incorporates a very good sound card compatible with professional headphones thanks to its amplifier.

At the performance level we have seen how well it performs with an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and a GTX 1080 Ti graphics card. So much so that you have nothing to envy an ATX motherboard.

Currently we can find it in online stores for 127.90 euros. We think it is a very good price considering that another ITX motherboard that is more complete, we found it for almost 60 euros more. If you do not mind having a single M.2 connection and do not intend to do a high overclock, the B450 I Aorus Pro WIFI is one of the best options that the market currently offers in this format. What do you think of this ITX motherboard?
