Another day comes and Biostar has a new motherboard ready for us, this time for the 'old' APU processors that works under the FM2 + socket. We are talking about the Biostar A68MDE, which as always, has its price as the most attractive factor.

Biostar A68MDE is designed for AMD APU processors

The Biostar A68MDE uses the microATX format and only has one PCIe x16 slot for discrete graphics. It is not that it is a groundbreaking motherboard, it brings with it the A68 chipset which is quite limited and is not capable of providing multi-GPU configurations (and I think it does not need it either). There is also another PCIe slot available for x1 devices. Like the H110MDE, the A68MDE only has two DIMM slots for dual-channel RAM. However, up to 32 GB of DDR3 memory is supported and can be activated up to 2600 MHz. Considering current DDR4 memory prices are a bit high, this could be an interesting option for compact computers.

As for the rest of the motherboard features, it uses a Realtek RTL8111G for Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. It also uses a Realtek ALC662 HD 6-channel audio codec with special audio capacitors for filters, this is a codec widely used in this type of motherboards and does its job well.

On the back the IGP display connectors. This includes a DVI-D port and a VGA port for interesting 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz dual simultaneous output. There are also numerous available USB ports, including two USB 3.1 Gen1 ports on the back. Four more USB 2.0 ports are available through two 9-pin headers.

How much does the A68MDE cost?

Like the recent B250MDC, the A68MDE is very affordable and only $ 44.99.
