Bioware wants to introduce loot boxes into anthem

Anthem is BioWare's new video game in development, an open-world title that promises to be quite a graphical show and which was announced as one of the highlights of E3. Open world games are perfect to introduce practices such as micropayments and everything indicates that Anthem is going to come loaded with them.

Anthem will come with micropayments

The video game industry is going from bad to worse, first were the DLCs, which have proven to be the perfect tool to cut game content for 70 euros and make players pass by the box again if they want all the content. Not happy with this have come micropayments and the famous loot boxes that allow you to buy in-game content and skills with real money from players.

BioWare has stated on the Reddit forums that they prefer games where you have the ability to purchase real-money content that can also be purchased by playing. With this it seems quite clear that Anthem is not going to get rid of the loot boxes or directly purchase with real money in-game.

Personally I find it detestable that they make us go through the box again in a game that is worth 70 euros at launch, many users excuse that the content can also be achieved by playing but it is only a matter of time that this changes for the worse. Not to mention that players who don't want to pay for extra content are put at a disadvantage.
