Bitfenix has an excellent reputation for manufacturing desktop boxes and power supplies. At the end of February it launched one of the best M-ATX format boxes on the market, it is the Bitfenix Aegis that allows you to choose a large selection of colors (Red, white, black, yellow…), the installation of high-end heatsinks, high-end graphics cards and even the possibility of installing triple radiator liquid cooling.

Bitfenix Aegis Unboxing and exterior

Bitfenix Ageis arrives in a large and fairly robust cardboard box. The truth is that it is not very funny, it only has the silhouette of the Aegis chassis on its cover. While in the back we have the most important technical characteristics of this microATX box. Inside we find inside the box protected by a transparent plastic and polystyrene.

As you have seen in the technical characteristics, the Bitfenix Aegis is available in 5 colors: white, blue, yellow, red and black. Our sample is white, which as you can see looks great. It has measures of 205 x 470 x 480 cm and a weight of 6.7kg.

The front of the box is completely smooth and with a glossy finish typical of a high-end box. Although I do not like the idea of losing the 5.25 ″ bays, but the idea in person is great. It also comes with an LCD screen that allows you to display the customizable logo you like with dimensions 240 x 320 and JPG format, to provide power uses an internal USB connection.

We also stop at the top of the tower. We have a series of buttons that allow us to control the fans in three types of speed: LCD screen power button, reset button, two USB 3.0 ports and audio input / output.

Once we remove the upper filter, it allows us to manage a hole to install three 120 or 140 mm fans that allow us to install high-end triple grill radiators.

Between the sides, highlight the left bow with a window that shows us the entire exterior of the box.

At the back we have 4 easy-to-remove screws, fan outlet, 5 PCI slots and a hole for the power supply. Finally, on an external aesthetic level, the extensive magnetic anti-dust filter and the 4 rubber feet stand out for an excellent fixing on any surface.

Once we remove both side covers we visualize an internal structure completely painted in black and made of top quality solid steel. What has most impressed me is the cover for the power supply, which seems to me a fantastic idea because it gives a lot of play when choosing an efficient power supply without having to take into account its design and be able to hide all the wiring.

We visualize several booths that allow us to install four 3.5 ″ hard drives and another 2.5 ″. We also have the option to connect devices or adapters in the 5.25 ″ cabin.

As we have discussed, the box allows us to install motherboards with microATX and Itx with up to 5 expansion slots. On the compatibility with heatsinks for processors we have a margin of up to 170 mm in height and in graphics cards up to 380 mm long and 140 mm high.

In the cooling we have a 120 mm fan in the rear area to extract all the hot air. In the upper area it allows us to install a radiator of up to 360 mm fine, although it is 100% compatible with the 280mm, 240mm, 140mm and 120mm radiators.

Final words and conclusion

Bitfenix has built a high-end box in a very compact format and a design that enters through the eyes. This first impression has been fantastic and is that it allows us to choose up to 5 colors. Compatible with high-end microATX, itx motherboards and graphics cards.

Regarding cooling, it allows us to install high-end heatsinks such as double and triple grill liquid cooling. The only downside that I see to the system is that it only includes a fan in the rear area, which will force us to acquire several fans to create good circulation inside the box.

Including an LCD screen gives a further personalization and allows us to personalize the front with a unique design. It is currently in Spanish stores for a very tempting price of around € 80, making it an option for a reduced configuration. ADVANTAGE
