Although iOS 12 has not yet been officially released to the general public, I am sure that many of you are already dealing with the new features and functions of the new operating system for iPhone and iPad thanks to the public beta program. Whether you are among this group of users, or if you are one of those who prefer to wait until September, today we tell you how to benefit from one of the main novelties of iOS 12, automatic software updates.

With iOS 12, your iPhone updates itself

If you are not through the task of continuing to receive notifications on your iPhone or iPad every time Apple releases one of its frequent software updates, but at the same time you want to keep your device updated, there is a new option in iOS 12 that will allow you to enable automatic software updates.

When you have activated this new feature, your iPhone and iPad will update automatically every time a new version of iOS is officially launched:

  • Open the Settings application on your iOS device Go to the "General" section. Select the "Software update" section. Then select the new feature "Automatic updates" Activate the slider so that the option is enabled (in green)

Don't forget that this new option for automatic updates is disabled by default, so the default behavior of software updates does not change in iOS 12. Unless you specifically activate them, your iOS device will notify you of the arrival of a new update but it will wait for you to manually press the install button. Of course, as until now, it will download the new updates in the background (but it will not install them).

If you want to disable automatic updates in iOS 12, just follow the same steps indicated above, this time by pressing the slider to the disabled option.
