Just a week ago, Apple launched a new page called Data and Privacy through which users can now download a copy of the data stored in our Apple ID. However, this is not the only function that the Cupertino company has provided with this measure because, if you wish, you can also temporarily delete or deactivate your Apple ID, and today we will tell you how to do it.

Clear or disable your Apple ID

Although any client of the company anywhere in the world can delete their Apple account, the ability to deactivate an Apple ID is limited to those users located in some of the countries that make up the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.. Despite this, Apple has already stated that it intends to implement this deactivation option worldwide "in the coming months."

Before doing anything, keep in mind that deleting your Apple ID is an irreversible action; Once you do, you will no longer be able to reopen or reactivate your account or restore or access any of your data, content or services such as photos, videos, documents or any other content that you have stored in iCloud.

Therefore, if you may want to use your Apple ID in the future, Apple recommends temporarily disabling your account instead of deleting it. In this case, you can reactivate your account by contacting Apple technical support and providing the unique access code received during deactivation.

Before deleting or deactivating your Apple ID

Before requesting deletion or deactivation of your account, Apple recommends taking some precautions:

  • Make a backup of all the data you store in iCloud. Download any purchase that does not contain DRM, iTunes Match songs that you do not have copies of, and any other music or content. Check your subscriptions as they will be canceled at the end of your own billing cycles, even if the account has already been deactivated. Close the session on all your devices; If you delete your account, you won't be able to log out of iCloud or disable the Find My iPhone activation lock on your devices. If you forget to log out, you may not be able to use your iPhone, iPad, etc. when your account is deleted.

How to delete or deactivate your Apple account

And now yes, let's see how to eliminate or deactivate your Apple ID:

  1. First of all, open Safari or the browser you normally use on your Mac, PC or iPad (it does not work on an iPhone) and go to this website.

2. Enter your email address and password for your Apple ID.

10. Enter the access code to confirm that you have received it. Then select Continue.

11. Review the list of important details once again and select Delete account.

On the screen, Apple will confirm that it is working on deleting your account; It will also send you an email. The process can take up to seven days, during which period your account will remain active and you can back out.
