How to disable web notifications in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox

For example, take my own experience with Facebook. I like to check what is new on Facebook, but I do not need alerts from the social network on my PC. I prefer to have those notifications directly on my phone. However, I do want to keep Twitter and WhatsApp notifications in my browser.

Disable notifications in Google Chrome

The easiest method from the Chrome browser is to type the following in the address bar and then press Enter:

A small pop-up window will open the listing of all websites capable of delivering notifications to you. Click on the entry you want to delete and it will appear in a different color so you can edit it.

Select "Block" from the menu, then click "Done" at the bottom right of the pop-up window.

Disable notifications in Mozilla Firefox

Start by clicking the three horizontal line button at the top right of the browser and select "Options" from the drop-down menu. In the tab that opens, click on “Content” in the left navigation panel, and then, in the Notifications section, click on “Choose”.

In the pop-up that opens, select the site from which you want to stop receiving notifications. To finish, click on "Delete site" and "Save Changes".

Disable notifications in Microsoft Edge

Depending on your browser, once you disable these sites, they may ask you if you want them to be enabled again when you visit them next time. Just remember not to allow notifications when asked again. And that will be enough. Now with the Windows 10 Anniversary update Edge is receiving web notifications.

Notifications in Edge can be disabled by clicking the three dots in the upper right, going to "Settings" and "View advanced settings."
