If you still have an iPhone or iPad so old that it is no longer compatible with iOS 12, but you want to install any of the applications that you usually use on your newer devices, you're in luck. Apple has not completely abandoned its older users and allows the download of old versions of applications on devices that can no longer be updated to the current iOS 12.

Your old iPad may still be useful to you

As you will see below, downloading applications in their previous versions to the current one is a very simple process. However, given the capabilities of your device (due to its age) you may need to show a little patience.

Open the App Store on that device that can no longer be updated to iOS 12 and access the Purchased section and wait for the list of purchased applications to be displayed. It is at this time that you will have to have more patience than usual because, depending on the age of the device, you will have to wait more or less time until the history of applications that you have acquired with an Apple ID is fully loaded. This will also depend, logically, on the volume of applications downloaded and installed over the years.

Once the list is complete, and all application icons are displayed, you can search for the app you want to install again. You can do it by searching the list or typing its name in the search box. Again, be patient.

When you have found the application, press the iCloud icon that you will see next to it (a cloud with an arrow coming out from inside it). Do not leave the App Store because the application store will show you a notification saying that it is not possible to download this application since it does not work with the iOS version that you have installed on your device. It is logical because you are trying to download the latest version that is compatible only with the latest versions of iOS signed by Apple. However, it will also offer you an option for you to download an older version.

Now simply click on the Download button that you can see in the warning window. You will soon have the latest version possible that is compatible with the iOS version on which your iPhone or iPad runs.
