The iPhone, like the iPad and many other devices, have become an effective tool that allows you to scan documents anytime, anywhere. If we take a look in the App Store, we can find different apps focused on this task (my favorite is Adobe Scan ), but the truth is that everything you need to scan documents you already have as standard on your iPhone and, in addition, you can do it in just three steps.

Scan documents in just three steps

The Notes application itself that we all have as standard on our iPhone and iPad allows us to digitize all kinds of documents that we have printed on paper. The “natural” way of doing this includes the typical steps: unlock iPhone, open the Notes app, create a new note, press the “+” button, choose the “Scan document” option, point and save.

Although this method is easy, the truth is that there is a way to skip several of these steps, making scanning a document a much faster process. Before proceeding, you must add Notes to the Control Center, if you have not already done so:

  1. Launch the Settings app. Tap Control Center. In the Customize Controls list, tap the green " + " button next to the Notes entry.

Now you have everything ready to access the function of scanning documents from the lock screen of your iPhone:

  1. Launch the Control Center from your iPhone's lock screen. Press and hold the Notes icon. Tap Scan Document and place your finger on the Touch ID (or use Face ID) to authenticate your identity, point and scan.

Once you have scanned the document (single or multiple pages), it will be saved as a new note.

If you need the pdf of the scanned document, just tap the Share icon (the box with an arrow pointing outward in the note), select Create PDF from the options menu, and as soon as it's generated, tap Share again to save it in Files, or share it as you want (Messages, WhatsApp, Mail, Telegram, etc.).
