What Realtek drivers do I need?

This is the first question you should ask yourself when looking for Realtek drivers. Any version will not work for you, so you will have to find out which ones you need. The good news is that almost everyone uses Realtek High Definition codecs. With that said, let's check out what our drivers are.

I could tell you to go to Device Administrators, but it has not helped me to know what drivers I need. On the other hand, it is useful to know what version of Realtek you have installed, so it is something that you can see through this menu.

In my experience, the best thing you can do is download the AIDA64 program. You can do it here. Tell you that it is paid, but that we can use the evaluation copy. When you have installed it, start it.

Now, in the left sidebar, we go to " HD Audio ". This is my case, but you may have another name. We see the driver we need.

In my case, Realtek ALC892 is my controller, so I will have to look for the drivers with that name.

Install drivers

We already know what controller we have, so we are going to go to the Realtek website to download the drivers. Once inside, we introduce the name that we have obtained in AIDA64 in " Keyword " and we give it to search.

You will get what you are looking for and we click the " software " button. It appears that Realtek has bundled all of its HD Audio drivers into one installer, so better than better. When you get to the download page, look at the version of Windows you have, especially if it is 32 bit or 64 bit.

We will have to put our email and write a captcha to download the file. To tell you that the servers of this company are not the best in the world, it took me 1 hour to download the 252 Mb installer. When you have downloaded it, install it and restart your PC. In theory, the audio problems should have been rectified.

Finally, to say that with Windows updates this problem is practically non-existent. This is because, when we log in, the operating system searches for the drivers that the PC needs automatically. So, in the end, we don't need to install anything. Of course, those who use certain editions of Windows may have problems when it comes to having the PC with everything you need.

Uninstall drivers

Let's put ourselves in the opposite case: wanting to uninstall the Realtek drivers. In my experience, it does not happen as with the graphics card drivers, which are not always uninstalled correctly, but you have to use cleaners.

Therefore, the uninstallation will be very simple and fast. With these steps we can easily do it:

  1. We open the start menu and write "control panel".

We open the Control Panel and go to " Programs and Features ".

Finally, we look for the Realtek uninstaller and proceed to uninstall it. Now all that remains is to restart the PC and wait until we no longer have the drivers installed.

As you can see, this tutorial is short and simple, so everyone can do it without any problem. If you have any questions, let us know by commenting below.
