How to free up space on your mac using iCloud photo optimization

Free up space on Mac by optimizing your photos

Photos and videos are often the primary cause of many Mac computer users depleting internal storage space. To check what is killing the gigabytes of your Mac:

1. Press the símbolo symbol in the menu bar of your Mac. Select About this Mac Click on the Storage tab.

In the event that the Photos app is a major culprit for lost space, you can quickly check it from here, and you can also solve it by activating the storage optimized for iCloud photos. As you can see in my case, the photos are 17.4 GB on my Mac. Let's proceed:

1. Open the Photos app on your Mac and click Photos in the menu bar (upper left corner of the screen) Now click on the Preferences option … Make sure that the iCloud is selected Click Optimize Mac Storage

Remember that you must first have the iCloud Photo Library activated. Optimized iCloud photo storage keeps photos and videos at full resolution on iCloud while offering smaller, higher- resolution versions on your Mac so you can make better use of space.

As you can see in my example, after activating the Optimize Mac storage option, the free space of the team has gone from 96.57GB to 110.99GB, that is, I have gained more than 13GB of free space and now the library of Photos only occupies 2.78GB compared to 17.4GB before.
