If you were planning to clean your liquid refrigeration, we advise you to read this guide to perform proper and guaranteed maintenance.

Maintaining liquid cooling is not suitable for novices, so safe and functional maintenance must be carried out. Many of us advise against this type of kits or refrigeration for this very reason: maintenance. If some already make a mistake keeping a normal PC, you don't want to see them in the hands of a device of this caliber. Welcome to our guide on how to clean liquid cooling step by step.

Periodic maintenance

The first thing you should know is that you have to perform maintenance on your liquid cooling every 6 months. It is true that nothing happens to spend a little, but try not to exceed 6 months. At that point, we have to replace the liquid.

It all depends on how we have done the installation, so keep in mind the way you installed the kit. If you have the tubes tightly closed, and you added silver spirals or biocides, you have a lot of work done.

Materials we will need

First, you must know the amount of liquid you need to be able to order new fluids. If you have a drainage system in the refrigeration, it will be much easier.

Distilled water

We need it to wash the entire circuit well, as to fill the entire kit. You have to buy a large carafe of about 4 liters approximately. It is very important that we have a good carafe because we are going to use it a lot.

Tube to extract

It is a transparent tube of PMMA that is usually 12 millimeters. We can find them by Amazon or by computer stores such as PCcomponentes, Coolmod or Wipoid. They are normal and ordinary liquid cooling tubes. They are essential to clean liquid refrigeration. We also find them in 10 or 13 millimeters.

1 liter bottle

We will remove the liquid from the refrigeration through a tube that will go to this bottle, we also have any bottle that you have unused from home.

Basically it will be the star container for cleaning liquid cooling because we will be transporting a lot of liquid through it. My advice is that it be two liters because you never know if we can be short.

Funnel

The funnel will help us to pour the liquid from one bottle to another in a comfortable way and without spilling anything. You will have to clean it equally so that the transmission of fluids is good.

1 liter liquid

Basically, it is about buying new liquids for our refrigeration. Here the choice is usually very particular, so I will just say that you buy a good 1-liter liquid from brands such as Mayhems, Corsair's or EKWB.

Concentrated

Although this is optional, there are many users who want to give their kit a little color, so you can buy a concentrated liquid of a thousand different colors. As a tip, try looking on YouTube if someone has the concentrate you like to see how it looks before buying it. Over time the effect will pass and stain the tube.

Carafe

Simply, it is an empty carafe of about 4 liters or more with which we are going to transport mixtures and that we are going to use to mix our new fluid well.

ATTENTION: read the entire step before doing it because you may make a mistake. Do not carry out the process as you read it, but rather read what needs to be done because within the step there are many things to do.

1. We remove the drain connection

Before removing it, make sure that the key is not parallel with the outlet because, if so, it will be open. If the key is horizontal, it means that it will be closed, so we can safely withdraw the socket because nothing is going to come out.

We remove the top cap of the tank and disconnect the 24-pin cable that goes from the source to the motherboard. We also turn off the rear power supply.

2. We extract the liquid into the bottle

We place the tube with which we are going to extract the liquid in the " hydrant ", at the end that remains outside we put the bottle and turn the key perpendicular to open the circuit.

When everything is finished pouring and the tubes are left with " rings ", we will close the key. Now, you have to clean the ends of the tube with a little kitchen paper.

3. We put distilled water in the tank

Remember that we have opened the upper lid of the tank and that the tap is closed, so we pour distilled water into it.

When we fill most of the tank (leave a finger away), we close the lid of the tank and turn on the computer. If we have done well, the fluid will circulate throughout the circuit.

4. Extract the liquid and fill

With the PC running, we are going to extract the liquid again through the tube to the bottle.

When it is almost empty, it will make bubbles. We turn off the tap again and pour distilled water back into the tank. Don't fill it all the way up. We are going to have to repeat the process until we have a clean fluid = totally transparent.

You must take into account the material you are using so as not to corrupt the circuit. Be careful to use corrosive or incompatible liquids because it can damage the circuit.

5. We extract all the liquid

We are going to turn off the computer, open the key and extract all the liquid in the bottle. Here you have to pay attention to the residues that remain from the previous fluids, you can see it in the recesses of the tank: upper and lower part.

To do this, we will disassemble the tank and clean it thoroughly afterwards.

6. Clean all parts

It is time to get down to work: you have to clean any part that has been in contact with the previous fluid. So you have to do the following:

  • Remove the main tank and thoroughly clean all the joints, rips, etc., that are stained by the previous liquid. Obviously, clean the tank that we have removed well. You can help in this process with a kitchen paper.

After doing the superficial work, it gets serious. The water block above the processor must be cleaned. So, we disassemble the water block and all its parts until we reach the processor. Be careful at this point.

7. Add the new fluid

We will take the funnel and put it on top of a new bottle. Normally, liquids come in 1 or 2 liter format.

Now, fill the bottle with distilled water. When it is full, we pass that water from the bottle to the carafe. We pour all the new fluid into the bottle and fill the rest of the bottle with distilled water.

We pour the bottle in the same carafe as before. When we're done, we remove the funnel and clean it.

8. Fill the tank with the new liquid

If you have come this far, I suppose you will have a carafe with distilled water and the new fluid, right? If so, it is time to fill the reservoir with the new fluid.

Do the following:

  • We take the carafe and pour the liquid into the tank until it is about a finger away. Now, turn on the computer so that the new fluid is distributed throughout the circuit. The tank will begin to empty because the water begins to distribute throughout the circuit. As it empties, we fill it up. Obviously, when it doesn't empty, don't add more.

9. We "dye" the water

We take the "dye" and put a drop in the tank. Wait a while and take another drop again. You do the same, take another drop and wait. It is enough that we do it 2 or 3 times.

We will have our new clean and colorful circuit.

So far our tutorial. We know that it is complex and that it can be difficult to understand, but it is a somewhat laborious process. We only hope that you follow the guide very carefully so that you can enjoy your liquid cooling.
