If you want to take control of your computer and monitor its temperature, you are in the right place. We show you how inside.

Monitoring the temperature of the computer can be very useful to detect possible anomalies that occur during its use. At this point, all of us as users must have a little diligence when using our equipment. This happens through proper maintenance, such as monitoring the temperatures of its components. We teach you how to do it.

What is monitoring the temperature?

We come to refer to being able to visualize the temperature of our components through some other application. Not only to see it, but to keep track of it in order to take control of the PC. It is important that you know what is happening inside the box because it can help you associate failures that the PC experiences and that you do not know why they occur.

There are many problems caused by bad temperatures or refrigeration. We can experience Thermal Throttling, which is a phenomenon that occurs in the processor and that consists of reducing performance to lower temperatures. This occurs when the CPU reaches certain temperatures, such as over 65 degrees, for example.

We also found slow problems caused by temperature. Especially, it happens on graphics cards that are not well maintained or that their fans do not spin fast enough to expel heat.

How to monitor the temperature of the computer?

A priori, there are several programs that are a must have on every PC because they are very useful for this purpose. It is true that there are an infinity of tools that facilitate this, but we are going to offer you the ones that, for us, are the best.

If anyone was wondering the possibility of knowing the temperature of a component without installing programs, it is not possible at the moment. So we will have to install a third party program, yes or yes.

Software of your motherboard

Depending on the motherboard we have, we will have one program or another. In the case of MSI, it offers its " Command Center " program, which allows you to see the CPU temperature only. There are much more complete and interesting tools from other manufacturers than this one. However, you can create a performance curve in the heatsink or case fans.

I just wanted to mention that you may have these programs installed on your PC, so it is not always necessary to download a custom program for this purpose.

HWMonitor

It is, perhaps, the best software on the market to monitor the components of our computer. I say this because it is very accurate, it does not give erroneous data and I really like the amount of information that the user is able to enlighten so that he takes complete control of his PC. So much so, that we can see the temperatures of any installed component.

Not only that, it shows us voltages, amperage, the revolutions of our fans and the use of the component itself. This gives us valuable information that allows us to know everything about our configuration.

The equivalent in macOS is iStats Menus, which offers us a lot of information too.

You can download it here.

Core temp

We have more specific solutions such as Core Temp, a program that gives us all the information we need from our processor: temperature, voltage, load and consumption. It is really useful, although we have HWMonitor that is much more complete and thus we save space. Also, we put it here for those interested.

We hope that it has helped you and if you have any questions, comment below so that we can respond.
