Last week, Apple launched a new page within its website called Data and Privacy through which users can now download a copy of the data stored in our Apple ID. This includes purchase history or app usage data, Apple Music and Game Center statistics, AppleCare support history, and any information that is stored on Apple's servers, including calendars, photos, and documents.

Download a copy of your data

Based on this, below we will indicate the steps to follow to request a copy of your data from Apple. At the moment, this service is available in all the countries of the European Union, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland, although the company has already announced that it will expand it worldwide in the coming months. If you live in a country where the service is not yet available, you can contact Apple to request a copy of your data.

According to Apple, users will have a copy of their data within seven days. Of course, keep in mind that the size of said copy depends on the elements you choose to include, but Apple will divide it into several files to make the download more feasible.

  1. First of all, open Safari or the browser you normally use on your Mac, PC or iPad (it does not work on an iPhone) and go to this website.

2. Enter your email address and password for your Apple ID.

3. And if the following page appears, click "Continue".

4. In the section "Obtain a copy of your data" click on "Start".

5. On the next page, check the box corresponding to each of the categories you want to include in the copy of your data to download. In some cases, you can be more specific if you select "Show more".

6. Once you have chosen the information you want to get a copy of, click Continue at the bottom of the screen.

7. Next, on the new screen, you will see a drop-down menu on which you must click to choose the maximum size of the file you want to download. The options are as follows: 1GB, 2GB, 5GB, 10GB, or 25GB. Apple will proceed to divide the data into files whose size will be, at most, what you have indicated.

8. Under this drop-down menu, you can see a box that summarizes the number of apps and services you have selected (in my case, I selected everything), as well as the size of the files in which Apple will supply me with such data.

9. Once you are satisfied, press the "Complete application" button.

When you have made the request to copy your Apple ID data, you will see the following message on the screen:

In addition, the bitten apple company will send you an email informing you that it is already preparing your data, while reminding you that this process can take up to a maximum of seven days. As a security measure, Apple uses this time to verify that the request was made by you.

In addition, at any time you want you can check the status of your request by visiting the website privacy.apple.com/account, for which you must authenticate your identity as you did at the beginning.
