How to optimize windows folders that load very slowly

Even if your computer is very fast, there are some folders in Windows that load too slowly. Fortunately, there is a method of optimizing folders in Windows with immediate results.

Windows has an old option in File Explorer that was implemented with the launch of Windows Vista and that can tell the operating system what types of content exist in certain folders, in order to better optimize the loading of such content.

How to optimize a very slow Windows folder

The problem appears when the folder is optimized for content types that are not predominant within it. For example, let's say your Documents folder is optimized for images, rather than text files, which would optimize the opening of photos to the detriment of documents.

The solution in this case would be to tell Windows to optimize folders for multiple multimedia contents, and not only for certain types of files.

How to change folder optimizations?

First, locate the folder that gives you problems and right-click on the folder itself in Windows Explorer, and then click on "Properties" in the context menu.

Within the Properties menu, select the " Customize " tab. In this tab you will find the option " Optimize this folder for ", with a drop-down menu with several options: "General elements", "documents", "images", "music", "video".

You must select the " General elements " option.

If you want to apply the changes to all the folders inside that folder, also select " Also apply this template to all subfolders " and then click OK.

The changes should take effect immediately and when you reopen the folder you should notice a faster loading of the files.
