How to know which motherboard I have step by step (quick guide)

Method 1: Information system

This is the easiest method of all because it is very fast and we do not need to install any third party program.

We open the start menu and just write " info " to get the "System Information " menu.

Where it says " motherboard product " we have the model of our motherboard.

Our model will rarely come out here, although it may be the case that only the manufacturer appears.

Method 2: Diagnosis

This is another method with which model you have without having to install any program. We will proceed in the same way, so don't worry.

We open the start menu and look for " dxdiag ".

As soon as it is run, the system information will appear.

In this case, our motherboard model is found in " system model ".

As you can see, we can see all the information on the system in a very simple way, simply by opening an application.

Method 3: Command Prompt

It would seem strange to me, but let's think about the hypothesis in which we do not yet know our motherboard model and have used the two previous methods.

In this case, we will have to open the Windows console or command prompt.

Method 4: CPU-Z

The first thing we are going to do is go to the CPU-Z website. To make it easier, download the " SETUP · ENGLISH ".

As you can see, Google Chrome or another browser will tell you that it is a dangerous file. Do not be afraid because this is done for security measures, they do it with all the “.exe” files. You download and the problem is solved. You install and run it.

We have several tabs above, so select the one called " Mainboard ". You will see several rows:

Method 6: Speccy

It is not such a famous program, but its free version is fabulous for what we want to achieve: to know what model of motherboard we have.

Personally, for technical data, I like CPU-Z better, but Speccy works superbly, so they're both great programs.

First, we go to their website. We click on " Download Free Version ". The website will download us to the link and click on it.

Surely, the browser will tell you again that it is a dangerous file, etc. You also download. Install Speccy and launch it. It will take a while to analyze your components. It seems more complete than CPU-Z because it shows us the temperatures of our equipment.

Method 7: Open the PC Case

I am sure that many will discard this option, but it is quite useful when we do not have an internet connection or when the PC does not start. Thus, the above methods are useless, so we have to go the old way.

If we open the box and head to our motherboard, it will surely put the model somewhere. Maybe your graphics card or a card connected to PCI-Express covers it. Examine it well because it should be in most cases.

Another not so precise method is to search for the brand of your motherboard (it will put it on your motherboard) and see models on Google, even finding the one that is the same as yours.

Method 8: Manual or motherboard box
