We have several methods available to do this , depending on the version of Windows we have, we may choose one method or the other. But in any case we will see all the ways to do this.

Hide taskbar in Windows 10

You have to have Windows 10 activated to be able to modify the appearance settings and the Windows taskbar

To hide the taskbar in Windows 10 we will have to do the following:

  • We go to the taskbar and right click on it

  • We choose the option “ Taskbar configuration”. The taskbar configuration window will appear.

Another way to access the Windows patience settings is through the desktop. To do this, click on it with the right button and choose the option " customize"

When the configuration window appears, we will have to go to the last option in the left side list, where it says " Taskbar ". in this way we will enter into this configuration.

In any case, we will find two options that allow us to hide the taskbar in Windows 10 depending on the equipment we have:

  • If we have a laptop or desktop we will have to activate the option " Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode ". In this way the bar will automatically be hidden when we do not have the mouse over its area. For the bar to appear again, we will have to place the mouse on the bottom edge of the screen (or the edge where we have it located) and it will appear again

  • If our case is that of a tablet with Windows 10 Mobile, what we will have to do is activate the option " Automatically hide the taskbar in tablet mode ". The effects will be identical. To make the bar reappear we will run our finger along the edge of the tablet screen.

We also have a complete tutorial where we explore all the customization options of the Windows 10 taskbar. If you want to know more go to the following link:

Hide taskbar in Windows Vista / 7 and 8

To do this in previous versions of Windows we will have to do practically the same steps as for the previous method. But these versions do not have the native Windows 10 configuration application, in this case it will be the traditional window that has existed since Windows XP. Let's see then what we will have to do:

  • We go to the taskbar and right-click on it. We choose the " properties " option

In the new window that opens, we must select the option " Automatically hide the taskbar"

We apply the changes and accept. We will already have our taskbar hidden.

Reasons why the taskbar is not hidden

Sometimes it happens that when we activate this option or the taskbar is not hidden automatically. Some of the reasons why this occurs are as follows:

  • Active program: when a program appears in the taskbar (Windows 10) in a flashing orange color, the bar will not be hidden automatically until we pay attention to the warning. To do this we click on the icon of the flashing program and it would hide again in the normal way.

  • Pending notifications - Another cause of the taskbar not closing is due to Windows notifications. As long as we do not attend to these, the bar will remain hidden.

Solutions when the taskbar is not hidden

If your case is not one of the above, we can try other ways to reset the taskbar to try to hide it.

Restarting the browser

The first thing we can do is restart the Windows file explorer. For this we will do the following:

  • Press the key combination " Ctrl + Shift " and at the same time right-click on the taskbar

  • We choose the option " exit the explorer " Next we press the key combination " Ctrl + Shift + Esc " to open the task manager. In the toolbar we click " File " and "Run new task" Now we write " explorer " and hit enter

In this way we restart the file explorer and the bar should work correctly.

This is the way to be able to hide the taskbar in Windows 10 and other previous versions. In addition, it would be possible to solve possible errors through these procedures that we have put in place.
