The Windows 10 Creators Update (known as Redstone 2) can already be downloaded and installed, but all eyes are on the next big update for the operating system, called Redstone 3 and scheduled to arrive in the fall.

It seems that the next Redstone 3 update will bring several design improvements. After having seen the universal applications adopting the visual style of the NEON Project, now is the time to see what Microsoft will do in regards to the Start menu and the taskbar, two very important components of the operating system.

New layout for Start menu and taskbar in Windows 10 Redstone 3

According to a screenshot released today by MSPU that comes from internal builds of Windows 10 Redstone 3, we can see a renewed version of the current Start menu that shows transparent Live tiles and the same blur effect that allows you to see what's behind from your window on the desktop.

The transparency and blur effects seem to point to Microsoft's future plans, and we think the Start menu looks better this way, especially since the user interface would look more modern.

On Windows 10 Mobile, Microsoft has not yet updated its apps to show transparent tiles, but we hope the company will accelerate development on the mobile side.

Dark or Light Taskbar

Additionally, it seems that Microsoft is also preparing a task bar with a lighter color, although users will have the possibility to choose between a Dark and a lighter design, while a third option would simply adopt the style of the general system interface. operational.

This type of taskbar initially appeared in several popular Windows 10 concepts and it seems that Microsoft has finally got the message, so Redstone 3 could have this new design for PC users.

Redstone 3 release date

Windows 10 Redstone 3 is expected to appear this fall, probably between September and October. However, the first public compilations will be sent to Insiders shortly, just after the Creators Update is officially released. However, it is not clear if the visual enhancements presented above will be included in the first betas.
