Comparison: asus zenfone 2 vs samsung galaxy s6
We continue with our smartphone comparisons with the Asus Zenfone 2 as the main protagonist, this time we are going to compare it with what is one of the best smartphones on the market today, it is the Samsung Galaxy S6, a terminal in which the South Korean firm has I really wanted to make a technological jewel and that without a doubt is one of the best options, if not the best, on the market for those with a large pocket.
Design and display
Both terminals are made with a body that has the drawback of not allowing the battery to be removed. In the case of the Asus Zenfone 2 we find a plastic body with dimensions of 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 mm and a finish that gives a metallic look to the body of the smartphone, improving the quality feeling it conveys. Regarding the screen, it has a 5.5-inch panel with IPS technology and a FullHD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, resulting in 403 ppi and offering excellent image quality. Asus has equipped the Zenfone 2 with the Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass to give it greater protection against scratches.
For its part, the Samsung Galaxy S6 has a 5.1-inch SuperAMOLED panel and an impressive resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, resulting in a density of 577 ppi and image quality and definition difficult to beat. As for the protective glass, it goes one step further than the Asus model and mounts the new Corning Gorila Glass 4 that promises greater resistance to scratches.
Samsung has also launched the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, which differs basically by presenting a curvature on both sides of the screen, something that provides some functions but is still a mainly aesthetic change. For more details you can visit the post we made on the day about the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Hardware
If we look at the insides of both smartphones we realize that they are very different from each other and that the two terminals offer more than enough specifications for the vast majority of users, even so it is evident that the Samsung Galaxy S6 is at a level far superior in terms of power.
In the case of the Asus Zenfone 2 we find a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor manufactured in a 22nm Tri-Gate process and that has four cores with the advanced and highly efficient Silvermont microarchitecture of the semiconductor giant. The four cores operate at a maximum frequency of 2.33 GHz and are accompanied by the PowerVR G6430 GPUs from Imagination Technologies . Along with the processor we find 4 GB of RAM and an internal storage to choose between 16/32/64 GB that we can expand by up to an additional 64 GB thanks to the presence of a microSD slot.
There are two cheaper versions of the Asus Zenfone 2 with “only” 2 GB of RAM and a lower-performance Intel Atom processor, one of the lower models maintains 5.5 inches on its screen and the third model drops to 5 inches, in both cases with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Remember that you have available the review of the intermediate model on our website.
In the case of the Samsung Galaxy S6 we find a highly advanced 64-bit Samsung Exynos 7420 processor, manufactured in the new process at 14nm FinFET of the South Korean itself and which has eight cores in a big.LITTLE configuration. Specifically, it has four ARM Cortex A53 cores, which are mainly characterized by their excellent energy efficiency, which operate at a frequency of 1.5 GHz and other four ARM Cortex A57 cores at 2.1 GHz that come into operation in situations that require more power.
In this case, the cores are accompanied by a powerful Mali-T760 MP8 GPU. Next to the processor we find 3 GB of RAM and an internal storage to choose between 32/64/128 GB not expandable.
software
It is time to talk about the operating system that runs both smartphones and their peculiarities, both come with the popular Google Android version 5.0 Lollipop.
In the case of Samsung we find its famous TouchWiz customization layer, loved and hated by users in equal parts
For its part, the Asus Zenfone 2 comes with the ZenUI customization layer with an attractive design and very good performance as has been demonstrated in previous Zenfone.
Optics
Regarding the optics of smartphones, we find quite large differences in favor of the terminal of the South Korean firm. The Zenfone 2 features a main camera with a 13 megapixel sensor with dual LED flash and PixelMaster technology to capture more light, capable of recording video at 1080p resolution and a frame rate of 30 fps. For its part, the Samsung smartphone mounts a higher quality and 16 megapixel sensor with LED flash, optical image stabilizer and the ability to record at 2160p and 30 fps.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Comparison: BQ Aquaris E5 4G vs Motorola Moto E 2015Regarding the front camera, selfie addicts can rest easy because both terminals incorporate a 5-megapixel sensor on the front.
Connectivity and battery
Regarding connectivity, we point out that both terminals have the most modern technologies, among which we highlight the following:
- Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot Bluetooth 4.0A-GPS NFC Radio FM (Asus Zenfone 2 only) 3G 4G-LTE
In the battery section, we highlight the fact that neither of the two terminals allows it to be removed for replacement, something that this server does not like at all and surely many of our readers are also disappointed by it. As for the capacity we find 3, 000 mAh in the Asus Zenfone 2 and 2, 550 mAh in the case of the Samsung Galaxy S6.
Availability and price
Both smartphones are already on the market, the Samsung can be found in countless Spanish stores for an approximate price of 689 euros while the cheapest Zenfone 2 is available on Amazon for 249 euros, however the most powerful and expensive version still We have not found it in our country but we can buy it at Gearbest for a price of 294 euros with the disadvantages of this practice in terms of waiting time to receive it and guarantee.
