Today we are going to see a comparison of two AMD and Intel processors that are designed for the low range, these are; The AMD Ryzen 3 2200G and the i3-8100 from Inte l. Both proposals are more or less in the same price range (approximately 110 vs 140 euros on Amazon Spain).

AMD Ryzen 3 2200G vs Intel Core i3-8100

Before moving on to the results, let's review what each one offers. The Ryzen 3 2200G chip has 4 cores and operates at a base clock speed of 3.5GHz, and can reach 3.7GHz at full load. This chip integrates a Vega 8 GPU, although it was not used in this comparison.

The Intel i3-8100 also has a 4-core, 4-wire configuration, operating at 3.6GHz as the base frequency. The chip also integrates a GPU (HD Intel 630), which is not used at all.

Analysis of the results

For the comparison made by the people of NJTech, an MSI GTX 1070 Armor graphics card and 16GB of DDR4 memory were used. In the case of the Ryzen 3 2200G, the results were included by overclocking at 3.9GHz.

If we talk about the results, the i3-8100 wins in practically all comparisons, but the margin is very small, of few fps. Especially when the results are included with overclocking the Ryzen 3. This makes us wonder if it is really worth paying that extra cost for the i3-8100 and not betting directly on a Ryzen 3 2200G that is unlocked to increase the frequencies through overclocking. Remember that this Intel i3 comes blocked and it is not possible to do a manual OC.

As a personal opinion, I think the choice is quite clear between the two, but what do you think? What processor do you prefer of these two to play?
