Comparison: iphone 6 vs iphone 5s
Table of contents:
After the last comparison in which we faced the Apple iPhone 6 with the Samsung Galaxy S5, we return to the fray with a new confrontation between the current iPhone 6 and its predecessor, the iPhone 5S to see the differences between both terminals and that the Owners of the "old" smartphone from the bitten apple company see if it is worth taking the generational leap.
Technical characteristics:
Designs: Both terminals are built with an unibody aluminum body that does not allow the battery to be removed and that provides a high quality and very attractive finish as in all Apple products. However, we found differences in terms of the size of the devices, mainly due to the fact that the current iPhone 6 mounts a larger screen as detailed below. Thus, the iPhone 6 has dimensions of 138.1 mm high x 67 mm wide x 6.9 mm thick compared to the smallest iPhone 5S which remains 123.8 mm high x 58.6 mm width x 7.6 mm thickness.
Screens: As mentioned in the previous section, the iPhone 6 has a larger screen than the iPhone 5S, specifically 4.7 inches vs 4 inches. As for the resolution, the new Apple smartphone has a total of 1334 x 750 pixels while its predecessor is satisfied with 1136 x 640 pixels. Despite this difference in resolution, the number of dots per inch is 326 ppi on both devices, so the definition and image quality are the same. One notable difference is that the iPhone 5S includes Corning Gorilla Glass III laminate while the iPhone 6 lacks it and uses Apple's own technology to add strength to the screen.
Processors: The two devices have a 64-bit, dual-core Cyclone processor designed by Apple itself. In the case of the iPhone 5S, the Apple A7 chip is manufactured in 28nm, the two cores operate at 1.3 GHz and are accompanied by the M7 coprocessor, which is in charge of processing the data from the smartphone's sensors, and the PowerVR G6430 GPU.. Regarding the Apple A8 used in the iPhone 6, it is manufactured in a more advanced 20nm process that makes it more energy efficient, its two cores operate at 1.4 GHz and are accompanied by the M8 coprocessor and the PowerVR GX6450 GPU. Both devices have 1GB of RAM and can be updated to the latest version of iOS 8
Cameras: As for the rear optics, both terminals have an 8-megapixel iSight sensor with wide angle, autofocus, face detection and True Tone flash. The difference is that the iPhone 6 can capture video at 1080p 60fps / 720p 240fps and the iPhone 5S complies with 1080p 30fps / 720p 120fps.
Regarding the front optics, both terminals have the same 1.2 megapixel FaceTime sensor, f / 2.2 aperture, face detection and the ability to record at 720p 30 fps.
Connectivity: In this aspect, both have WiFi 802.11a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 4.0 and 4G LTE like all high-end smartphones. In addition, the iPhone 6 has NFC while the iPhone 5S does not.
Batteries: iPhone 5S mounts a 1560 mAh battery that promises 250 hours of standby, 10 hours of talk, and 40 hours of music playback. For its part, the iPhone 6 has a 1810 mAh battery that promises 250 hours of standby, 14 hours of conversation and 50 hours of music playback.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Comparison: Motorola Moto X vs Samsung Galaxy S3Availability and price:
Both terminals can be purchased at prices of 699 euros for the iPhone 6 and 549 euros for the iPhone 5S, in both cases the 16 GB model of non-expandable internal storage.
