Comparison samsung galaxy s4 vs iphone 5
Table of contents:
Design
At first glance, when comparing the two terminals, the size difference is clearly seen. The S4 with measures of 136.6 mm x 69.8 mm x 7.9 mm and 130g, is bigger and heavier than the Iphone which has 123.8 mm high, 58.6 mm wide, 7, 6mm and 111g; although this last aspect is the one in which there is the least difference.
As with the size, the difference in materials from both is palpable. The S4 as usual in the rest of the Galaxy family uses plastic as a majority material, which on the one hand gives a greater lightness to the terminal and on the other makes it more resistant to scratches or rear falls but has the drawback of giving a less sophisticated look.
Apple, on the other hand, endows your Iphone with more elegant materials such as glass and matte black aluminum, which makes it a consistent and sober terminal. Despite being one of its materials, glass, in the tests made, the casing withstands shocks quite well.
The common denominator in the two terminals is both the position of the volume buttons and the physical Home button .
In this section there is no clear winner. Deciding on one size or another depends on taste, although in this generation where the greatest use of smartphones is to see photos and play videos and games on a larger screen, it is appreciated. Regarding materials, the iPhone takes the cake. Not only for being more elegant but for its proven resistance to shocks.
screen
A few years ago Apple's Retina display marked a before and after. Now Samsung is putting all the meat on the grill to catch up with its Super AMOLED.
On the S4 the 5-inch Super AMOLED screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with 441 ppi. In this aspect the Iphone screen is inferior with a 4-inch screen, a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels and 326 ppi.
In other aspects, such as blacks and whites, the Retina display is more than compliant, although it lacks some light in colors in general, on the other hand, Super AMOLED displays have always had very good blacks and a supersaturation in the house brand. colors that depending on taste may like more or less.
As in the previous section, it is not easy to decide on one or the other because the quality of both screens is excellent. Each one with its particularities. In this case, the S4 may be a little bit higher as it has a higher ppi and Full HD resolution.
Technical specifications
In this section it should be noted that the S4 starts with an advantage by having several months of difference from its opponent. Although that has never been a problem in Apple terminals that despite their greater or less power have been very fluid in their OS.
Focusing on the specifications, the S4 has a Quad-core Snapdragon processor at 1.9 GHz and 2 GB of RAM while, as we mentioned, the Iphone has a certain disadvantage, having a 1.2 GHz dual-core A6 processor and 1 GB of RAM. This difference is reflected in the benchmarks where the S4 doubles the power of its rival. This power added to 2GB makes multitasking a delight in the Samsung terminal, being more limited in the Apple terminal, although this has been improved in iOS 7.
Regarding storage capacity, both are tied in terms of internal memory in their respective versions (16Gb, 32GB and 64GB), but the S4 has more versatility as it has a slot for microSD cards. Not only the slot is a plus, but also the option to be able to remove the battery when desired.
Speaking of the battery, the S4 has a capacity of 2, 600 mAh compared to 1, 440 mAh for Iphone 5 and although they may seem like a big difference in theory, in practice the difference is not so much thanks to the better use of resources made by Iphone.
In this section, the undisputed winner is the S4 in almost all technical aspects.
OS
Before we emphasized the fact that multitasking is one of the improvements that iOS 7 has brought to the Iphone 5, among other changes. Now the general appearance of iOS is more minimalist and some aspects such as the unlock window or the control center have taken a very Android look . However, the little customization that iOS has and its propensity to be a closed system remain unchanged, which has its good side in providing security and fluidity.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Genius Announces the ECO-u600, a Universal Power Supply Unit for Tablets and SmartphonesThe S4 comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 and the TouchWiz interface, which incorporates a variety of new functions such as controlling the terminal through the eyes or using finger gestures in the air. Moving between menus around Jelly Bean is very fast, no doubt thanks to the S4's four cores. But in opposition to the little customization of iOS, the excessive modification of Jelly Bean by Samsung makes the OS not go as fast as it could go and needs to occupy almost 7 GB of memory.
In this section there is no clear winner, each OS has its advantages and disadvantages as I have already mentioned. It should be noted that with iOS 7 the aesthetics of the two OS is increasingly similar.
Camera
Until recently, the application of the camera on the Iphone 5 was somewhat simplistic but now with iOS 7 these options have increased to have real-time effects filters, a square camera option to those already available panoramic, photo and video, HDR and Flash. Even so, in this aspect the S4 still has a devastating number of options: Dual Camera, Dual Video Call, Drama Shot, Sound & Shot, Cinema Photo, Eraser, Best Photo and Best Face And a good number of parameters, among which we find the delay mode, ISO, burst. HDR etc.
As for the quality of the photos, the 13 Megapixel of the S4 makes the photos have a higher level of detail, but the colorimetry is more accurate and faithful on the Iphone 5 thanks to the sensor it incorporates. Although Samsung continues to sin to saturate the colors somewhat, in this S4 the problem is the high level of brightness.
In this section, although both perform at a high level, the S4 is slightly superior to the Iphone, both for its wide range of options and for its greater dynamic range in the colors shown.
CONCLUSION
As we have seen the Samsung Galaxy S4 is clearly superior in aspects such as the screen, the CPU, RAM and the battery. In other aspects such as OS, design or camera, subjectivity plays a decisive role and they will be more or less liked. As a snap, the Samsung Galaxy S4 costs free one hundred euros less than its rival. As the saying would say: " white and bottled "
