We continue with our comparisons between smartphones of great interest today, this time we compare the One Plus X with Google's Nexus 5X, two terminals with cutting-edge specifications and impressive features that will offer an excellent user experience to all users.

First of all we remind you that you have the One Plus X review on our website:

One Plus X Review

Technical characteristics:

Design

Both smartphones are presented with a unibody design that has a higher quality finish but has the drawback of not allowing the battery to be removed for replacement. The One Plus X is one step above when presented with its own design of an authentic top of the range that has nothing to envy to the smartphones that cost 700 euros.

In the case of One Plus X a metallic structure is observed for a high quality finish and a more premium appearance , it also includes a finish in Ceramic zirconite for greater scratch resistance. For its part, the Nexus 5X is presented with a much more modest finish based on a good quality polycarbonate body.

The One Plus X is presented with dimensions of 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm and a weight of 160 grams. For its part, the Nexus 5X is presented with dimensions of 147 x 72.6 x 7.9 mm and a weight of 136 grams, something logical considering that the Google terminal has a slightly larger screen size coupled with the worst use of the front surface.

The One Plus X ranks far above the design with a finish worthy of smartphones that cost 2 or 3 times more money.

screen

As for the screen, the Nexus 5X seems to be slightly ahead with a 5.2-inch diagonal and a generous resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (424 ppi). Against this we come across the 5-inch diagonal of the One Plus X at the same resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which allows it to reach a slightly higher pixel density with (441 ppi).

Beyond this, if we find more significant differences, it is that the Nexus 5X has IPS technology and the One Plus X with AMOLED technology, in both cases to ensure high image quality and excellent viewing angles. We note that AMOLED technology is more energy efficient and offers more saturated colors and warmer tones than IPS displays.

Both have Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective glass to keep the screen looking new for a long time.

Two screens identical in size and resolution although Google is betting on LCD IPS and OnePlus for AMOLED.

Optics

We arrived at the optician and observed excellent units in both cases. The Google terminal has a 12 megapixel main camera with a pixel size of 1.55 microns, laser autofocus, dual-tone dual LED flash, face detection and HDR. As for video recording, it is capable of doing it at 4K and 30 fps. If we look at the front camera we find a 5 megapixel unit that can record video at 720p and 30 fps.

For its part, the One Plus X mounts a 13-megapixel main camera with autofocus, face detection and dual-tone dual LED flash capable of recording video at 1080p and 30 fps. This time we do not know the pixel size nor do we know if the autofocus of the camera is by laser. As for the front camera, it is also ahead of the Nexus 5X with an 8 megapixel unit that can record at 1080p and 30 fps.

Processor

We get to the heart that will mark the performance of both smartphones and as we are going to check the Nexus 5X mounts a more modern and powerful chip. If the design was the One Plus X, the winner here is the Google terminal that takes the cat to the water.

In the Nexus 5X we find a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor manufactured in 20nm and consisting of four Cortex A 53 cores at 1.44 GHz and two other Cortex A57 at 1.82 GHz. The set is completed with a very powerful Adreno 418 GPU that will allow us to enjoy all the games available without any problem . In short, a processor with a very remarkable power that will not wrinkle before any application.

For its part, the One Plus X is located a small step below the Xiaomi Mi4C in power with a more modest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor manufactured at 28nm and formed by four Krait 400 cores at 2.3 GHz. As for the graphics, it has the powerful Adreno 330 GPU that offers very high power. An older chip but that was once a true top of the range and that is still capable of offering a user experience that has nothing to envy its older brothers.

The Nexus 5X is a step above power although the One Plus X will not fall short of anything.

RAM and storage

The One Plus X is presented in a single version with 3 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage expandable by up to an additional 128 GB, although for this we must sacrifice the second SIM card slot.

For its part, the Nexus 5X is presented with 2 GB of RAM and storage options of 16/32 GB. We emphasize that in both cases you will NOT be able to expand its storage as it lacks a microSD slot.

OS

We arrived at the operating system and we found differences in terms of the degree of customization of the operating system and its version, with the Nexus 5X taking the lead in this regard as a good Nexus.

WE RECOMMEND YOUThe Motorola Razr is presented on January 30 in Spain

In the case of the One Plus X, it has the OxygenOS customization based on Android 5.1. A ROM that is proving to be very fluid and that you can see in greater depth in our review of the One Plus X that we have linked to you at the beginning of this post.

For its part, the Nexus 5X we find the recently announced Android 6.0 Marshmallow that promises great improvements in performance and power management, perhaps the two weakest points of the Google operating system. To this we add that it is a completely clean version of Android without poorly optimized customization layers that may impair performance.

The Nexus 5X includes the latest available version of Android in addition to having guaranteed updates for several years directly from Google.

Battery

The One Plus X offers a battery significantly less than 2, 525 mAh while the Nexus 5X offers a battery with a capacity of 2, 700 mAh. In both cases the battery is not removable. An advantage in this regard for the Nexus by having a greater capacity although the optimization of the software and the consumption of the processor are no less important.

Connectivity

Both terminals demonstrate a good level and present various connectivity options such as WiFi 802.11b / g / n, 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetootht, OTG, A-GPS, GLONASS. No surprise in this aspect in which we find everything that a smartphone of these characteristics can offer today. Something to keep in mind is that the Chinese version of the One Plus X does not have the 800 Mhz band in the 4G while the international version does have it like the Nexus 5X.

A point where the Nexus 5X takes the lead by having a USB 3.1 Type-C port and an NFC chip. However, the One Plus X offers the attractive FM Radio that the Google terminal lacks, a point that can be decisive for many users.

The Nexus 5X has an NFC chip and the advanced USB 3.1 Type-C, the One Plus X features FM Radio.

Availability and price:

The One Plus X is now available to book in the main Chinese online stores for an approximate price of 300 euros. For its part, the Nexus 5X has a starting price of 479 euros in its 16 GB version while the 32 GB model amounts to 529 euros. A considerably lower price in the case of the One Plus X despite offering a much more premium finish.
