Comparison: xiaomi mi3 vs nokia lumia 520
And here we are once again, this time bringing one of the members of the Lumia family, a Low Cost that has very worthy and competent specifications for its price. The great Xiaomi Mi 3 will continue to fight to keep its rightful place thanks to its ambitious characteristics, typical of higher-range smartphones. At the end we will check which of the two terminals has a better quality / price, and if the difference between their costs is proportional to that of their specifications. We start:
Screens: the The Xiaomi is noticeably bigger thanks to its ultra-sensitive 5-inch screen and Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, compared to the 4-inch and 800 x 480 pixels of the Nokia Lumia 520. Both are accompanied by IPS technology, which gives them very defined colors and an almost complete viewing angle. We must also add that the Lumia screen has other functions such as brightness control, ambient light sensor and super sensitive screen.
Processors: the two terminals have a SoC from the same manufacturer, turning out to be Qualcomm Snapdragon 8274AB 4-core at 2.3GHz in the case of the Chinese model and Qualcomm Snapdragon dual-core at 1 GHz in the case of the Finnish one. Its GPUs are Adreno 330 and Adreno 305 respectively, which, in the case of the Xiaomi especially, will give it great graphics and performance, without draining too much battery. Its RAM memories are different, with 2 GB in the case of the Asian smartphone and 512 MB if we talk about the Lumia. The MIUI v5 operating system (based on Android 4.1) is present in the Xiaomi and Windows Phone 8 makes an appearance in the Nokia model.
Designs: The Xiaomi Mi3 is slightly smaller thanks to its 114 mm height x 72 mm width x 8.1 mm thickness, compared to 119.9 mm height x 64 mm width x 9.9 mm thickness and 124 grams of the Lumia 520. The case of the Asian model is made of an aluminum-magnesium alloy, which together with its graphite thermal film, achieve an ultra-thin model and better heat dissipation. The Lumia 520 for its part is made of plastic, which gives it a certain robustness. It is also available in various colors: yellow, red, blue, black and white.
Batteries: the Xiaomi It has 3050 mAh of capacity, which gives it great autonomy. The one of the Lumia however has only 1430 mAh, although being a not too powerful terminal, it will be able to hold quite long, as long as we do not spend the day playing or playing video.
Internal Memories: while the Nokia has a single model of 8 GB of ROM, the Xiaomi delights consumers with a 16 GB terminal and another with 64 GB of internal memory. The Lumia at least has a micro SD card slot that allows us to expand the memory to 64 GB, in addition to having a free cloud storage of 7 GB.
Cameras: The 13 megapixel Sony Exmor RS sensor presented by the Asian smartphone gives an important lesson to just 5 megapixels and f / 2.4 aperture that contains the main objective of the Lumia 520. Another negative point that we must add to the Nokia device is that it lacks a flash, while that of the Xiaomi is a dual Philips LED, which improves the intensity of the light by 30%, allowing higher shutter speeds. As for the front camera, in the case of the Lumia 520 it is not present and that of the Mi3 is backlit with wide angle and 2 megapixels. The Finnish model performs video recording at 720p.
Connectivity: both smartphones have basic connections that we are used to like WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth or FM radio. Neither of them offers LTE / 4G support.
Availability and price: the things that weigh the most in the price of the Chinese model are features such as the camera and the battery, which together with the other specifications result in an amount of € 299 for the 16GB model and € 380 for the model. 64GB of internal memory. The Nokia Lumia 520 is a terminal that has a more or less similar price, but it comes out cheaper, which compensates for the fact that it is less powerful: we have it on the official Nokia website at various prices: 135 euros in prepaid, free if we take up a contract from 20 euros / month and for 119 euros if we prefer it free.
