Comparison: xiaomi redmi note vs iphone 5
Table of contents:
On this occasion, the Professional Review team brings you a new comparison that features one of Apple's flagships, the iPhone 5, and the Chinese terminal of the moment: the Xiaomi Redmi Note. In such a fashionable iPhone it has some very competent characteristics, like the Chinese terminal, although the difference between its costs (as we will see in the end) will not leave us indifferent. The questions to ask now are: is this difference justified? What are its quality-price relationships? Which one best suits our needs? We hope with this article to answer these and other questions that arise. Stay tuned
Technical characteristics:
Cameras: In this aspect, the American terminal loses with its 8 megapixel rear lens compared to the 13 megapixel that accompany the Xiaomi, both with LED flash. The same happens with the front cameras, being 1.3 megapixels in the case of the Apple Smartphone and 5 megapixels if we talk about the Chinese terminal, useful in both cases for making selfies and video calls . Both terminals make video recordings in Full HD 1080p quality at 30 fps.
Design: the iPhone with its 123.8 mm height x 58.5 mm width x 7.6 mm thickness and its 112 grams is a smaller and less heavy terminal than the Xiaomi Redmi Note, which has 154 mm high x 78.7 mm wide x 9.45 mm thick. Said smartphone defends itself from shocks thanks to its back cover and its sides made of aluminum and stainless steel. Its front part has an oleophobic cover. The Xiaomi is more rudimentary in this regard, with a case made of resistant plastic in black on the front and white on the back.
Screens: the Xiaomi has a large size of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. For its part, the iPhone 5 has a TFT screen of an inch and a half less, that is, 4, and a resolution of 1136 x 640 pixels. They do share IPS technology, which gives them a wide viewing angle and highly defined colors. The American terminal also has Gorilla Glass anti-shock and scratch protection.
Processors: in the case of the Xiaomi we have to talk about two models: one with a Mediatek 6592 Octa-core CPU that runs at 1.4 GHz, accompanied by a Mali-450 GPU and with 1GB of RAM; and another second model with an eight-core Mediatek 6592 processor that runs at 1.7 Ghz, also accompanied by a Mali-450 GPU but with twice the RAM: 2 GB. The iPhone 5 has a 1.2GHz dual-core Apple 6A CPU and 1GB RAM. The IOS 6 operating system is present in the American terminal, while MIUI V5 based on 4.2 Jelly Bean does the same with the Chinese terminal.
Internal memory: the iPhone 5 has three different models for sale: one of 16 GB, another of 32 GB and another of 64 GB, while the Xiaomi for its part presents a single model of 8 GB of ROM. This capacity is expanded to 32 GB thanks to its microSD card slot, a feature that does not accompany the iPhone 5.
Connectivity: 4G / LTE technology is only present in iPhone 5, while the Chinese terminal only works with other more basic networks such as 3G, WiFi or Bluetooth.
Batteries: the 3200 mAh of capacity of the Redmi Note give an authentic review of the 1440 mAh of the iPhone 5, this being one of the lowest points of the American Smartphone. Therefore we can safely affirm that the autonomy of the Chinese terminal will be considerably superior.
WE RECOMMEND YOU Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be announced on September 11Availability and price:
The Xiaomi is available depending on the model for 160 - 170 euros (in the case of 1.4 GHz and 1 GB of RAM) and hovering around 200 euros in the case of 1.7 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The iPhone 5 is a much more expensive terminal: currently it can be found new for an amount close to 600 euros in most cases.
