And after the comparisons in which we faced the Xiaomi Redmi Note with the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Samsung Galaxy S3, the time has come to face the Samsung Galaxy S5, the new flagship of Samsung. Then we will give good proof of being talking about two smartphones with excellent characteristics, in the middle of a highly contested "combat". Then it will be your turn to decide which of these two terminals has the best value for money. We start:

Technical characteristics

Screens: The Xiaomi has a large size of 5.5 inches, somewhat larger than the Galaxy, which has 5.1 inches. They also differ in resolution, being 1280 x 720 pixels in the case of the Xiaomi and 1920 x 1080 pixels if we talk about the Samsung. The Redmi's screen features IPS technology, which gives it bright colors and a wide viewing angle. The S5 instead has super AMOLED technology , allowing it to have more brightness, reflect less sunlight and consume less energy. The Corning Gorilla Glass 3 crystal is in charge of protecting it against bumps and scratches.

Processors: in the case of the Xiaomi we have to talk about two models: one with a Mediatek 6592 Octa-core CPU that runs at 1.4 GHz, accompanied by a Mali-450 GPU and with 1GB of RAM; and another second model with an eight-core Mediatek 6592 processor that runs at 1.7 Ghz, also accompanied by a Mali-450 GPU but with twice the RAM: 2 GB. The Galaxy S5 features a 2.5 GHz Quad-core CPU and Adreno 330 graphics chip, which will allow us to enjoy a great visual experience and better performance. The RAM is 2 GB. The Android operating system in version 4.4.2. KitKat is present in the Galaxy, while MIUI V5 based on 4.2 Jelly Bean does the same with the Chinese terminal.

Design: The S5 has dimensions of 142 mm high x 72.5 mm wide x 8.1 mm thick and weighs 145 grams, turning out to be smaller than the Xiaomi Redmi Note and its 154 mm high x 78.7 mm wide x 9.45 mm thick. The Galaxy features a rear with small perforations that provide comfort in the grip. Its IP67 certificate makes it a waterproof and dustproof terminal. The fingerprint scanner gives you great security. We can find it available in white, black, gold and blue. The Xiaomi in this aspect is much more humble, having only a case made of resistant plastic that gives it a certain robustness against shocks. It is for sale in black on the front and in white on the back.

Connectivity: the two phones have basic connections such as 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, although only in the case of the Galaxy we have LTE / 4G support, something quite common among high-end smartphones.

Internal memory: the Samsung model has the advantage of having two different ROM terminals on the market: one of 16 GB and the other of 32 GB. The Xiaomi for its part presents a single model of 8 GB of internal memory. These capacities can be increased thanks to their respective microSD card slots of up to 32 GB in the case of the Note and up to 128 GB if we talk about the S5.

Cameras: in this aspect, the Galaxy S5 has everything to gain thanks to a 16-megapixel rear lens, which includes functions such as Selective Focus (clearly capturing what you want, giving depth and professionalism to your snapshots), greater speed between shots and take, and a very accurate light sensor. The Xiaomi for its part has a main 13-megapixel camera. As for its front sensors, the Xiaomi has 5 megapixels and the Galaxy with 2 megapixels. The two phones make video recordings, in Full HD 1080p quality at 30 fps if we talk about Redmi and in UHD 4K quality at 30 fps if we talk about Galaxy.

Batteries: that of the Chinese model reaches 3200 mAh of capacity, somewhat more than that of the S5, which has 2800 mAh. Both terminals will therefore be endowed with considerable autonomy.

Availability and price

The Xiaomi is available depending on the model for 160 - 170 euros (in the case of 1.4 GHz and 1 GB of RAM) and hovering around 200 euros in the case of 1.7 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. The Galaxy for its part is a high quality terminal, which makes it a very expensive device, being able to find it on the website of pccomponentes for 665 - 679 euros depending on the color and version of 16 GB..
