Although the market offers many thermal solutions for our PC: especially in heatsinks for processors and graphics cards. Although sometimes it is difficult for us due to the large number of products that exist. CoolerMaster wants to help us have a quick choice with the CoolerMaster Masterliquid 240 dual radiator and full support with the new Intel and AMD platforms. Don't miss our review!

We appreciate the trust of Cooler Master for the transfer of the product for its analysis:

CoolerMaster Masterliquid 240 technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Cooler Master makes a presentation very consistent with the quality of the product. Box with colors very pleasing to the eye, an image of the cooler and clearly details the model that we have purchased.

Your bundle is made up of:

  • CoolerMaster Masterliquid 240 liquid cooling kit.Instruction manual and quick guide. Two 120 cm fans. Support for both Intel and AMD. Various hardware for installation.

It is a compact liquid cooling without maintenance and is equipped with an aluminum radiator with a surface area of 240 MM.

The dimensions of the radiator is 277 x 119.6 x 27 mm and if your box has two 120 mm holes in the front or in the ceiling, you should not have problems to install it with its two fans. Although it is recommended to measure it previously, due to the thickness of the radiator as a whole of the fans.

It has two fixed nylon hoses with sealed fittings. This model are very flexible and streamlines a better installation during assembly.

What liquid does it have inside? It includes a compound prepared to avoid the existence of algae or any type of microorganism. Therefore, we can breathe easy since during the two years of guarantee we will not have any problem. In the case of having it, we can contact Cooler Master via ticket to request a solution.

The block / pump is quite high for what we are used to. But one of its advantages is the loudness level (maximum 15 dBa), which is very low. What's more, at rest you hardly hear it and this is the result of good design and manufacturing work.

According to the manufacturer, the estimated life time ranges from 20, 000 hours, which is equivalent to about 10 years of operation.

CoolerMaster Masterliquid 240

Unlike other kits, the thermal paste is not pre-applied on the block. But it brings a small syringe so that we can apply it on the IHS of the processor. The temperatures, we will see later but the result warn that it is really good.

Both hoses allow it to be adjusted to one side or the other.

How is the Cooler Master Masterliquid 240 powered? It incorporates a 4-pin fan connector to give life to the pump and a small thief that allows us to connect the two 120mm fans on the same head. This is great for us, since it allows us both to rotate at the same speed and we save the use of a rehobus.

It is time to tell you about the fans, we have two high performance MasterFAn 120 AB fans with dimensions 120 x 120 x 25 mm. Among its technical characteristics we find a speed of 2000 RPM, static pressure of 2.34 mm H2O, noise level of 30 dB (A) and an air flow of 66.7 CFM. Both have a 4-pin connection (PWM), which allows us to regulate their speed through the motherboard.

The Cooler Master Masterliquid 240 is compatible with all current platforms:

  • Intel (LGA 775 / 115x / 1366/2011 / 2011-3 CPU). AMD (FM2 + / FM2 / FM1 / AM3 + / AM3 / AM2 + / AM2 and AM4).

Assembly and installation on AM4 platform

For our performance tests we are going to use the most popular platform on the market: AM4 with an X370 motherboard. First we must identify the backplate and all the hardware for AMD. In this case we have compatibility with Intel and AMD In all their sockets

We have to be especially careful, if we are going to mount it on AM4 since the following anchors and backplate are exclusively for AM4. Except that you have an Asus Crosshair VI Hero motherboard, which does have standard AM3 mounts.

We must screw the two supports for the AM4 socket to the liquid cooling kit, so that it looks like the following image. We will proceed to apply the thermal paste on the processor in the form of a cross.

And we already finished placing the block and gradually tighten both screws in the plastic supports making a correct and vibration-free fixing.

To supply power to the pump we connect the 4-pin cable to the special connector on our motherboard for it (if it has one) and the thief with the two cables of both fans.

To test the real performance of the heatsink we are going to stress the best processor on the market: the AMD Ryzen 1700X. Our tests consist of 72 uninterrupted hours of work. In stock values and with overclock 4000 mhz. In this way, we can observe the highest temperature peaks and the average that the heatsink reaches. We must bear in mind that when playing or using other types of software, the temperature will drop dramatically between 7 to 12ºC.

WE RECOMMEND AMD Radeon R9 Nano Review (Analysis in Spanish)

How are we going to measure the processor temperature?

We will use the internal sensors of the processor. For that test on Intel processors we will use the CPUID HwMonitor application in its latest version. Although it is not the most reliable test of the moment, it will be our reference in all our analyzes. The ambient temperature is 21º.

Final words and conclusion about CoolerMaster Masterliquid 240

The Cooler Master Masterliquid 240 It is one of the best solutions in liquid cooling of double grill with a thickness of 2.7 cm. We hardly hear the pump, it has a very beautiful aesthetic and the quality of its components is first class.

Regarding its performance we have obtained with the AMD Ryzen 1700X 37ºC at rest and 66ºC at maximum power with overclock: 4 GHz. Which was great about its performance.

Also keep in mind that it is fully compatible with the new AM4 socket and without removing the supports of the new B350 and X370 motherboards. Which is a luxury as we save quite a few minutes of installation.

The only downside we found is that the fans at full power sound a lot. We have been able to verify that with other high performance fans, the performance is exactly the same and the loudness is lowered quite a bit.

We recommend reading the best heatsinks , liquid coolers and fans.

Its price in online stores ranges from approximately 96 euros. Considering that it already comes with the AM4 anchors as standard, its pump is not noisy at all and its performance is the best we have tested. We find it a 100% recommended product.
