Corsair is growing in the market for high-end boxes and this time they have sent us the Corsair Carbide 270R fresh from the oven. This new manufacturer chassis is characterized by elegant design, excellent cooling capacity and internal customization. Want to know more about her? Do not miss our complete analysis in Spanish.

We thank Corsair Spain for trusting the product for its analysis.

Corsair Carbide 270R: features

Unboxing and design

The Corsair Carbide 270R comes to us in a large cardboard box that details all its most important characteristics on the different faces. We open the cardboard box and find the chassis very well protected by cork pieces to avoid its movement and a plastic bag to protect it from scratches.

The new Corsair Carbide 270R chassis is the manufacturer's new ATX model that seeks to offer the most demanding users a top-quality design that lacks nothing. This chassis is presented with dimensions of 460 mm x 210 mm x 509 mm, so it is a product with a fairly common size within its range. We emphasize that steel and plastic are used as the main materials in its construction.

First of all we look at its front panel that comes with a fairly common configuration, it has several ports in the form of 2 USB 3.0 for connecting peripherals and external hard drives at high speed, 3.5 mm jack connectors for audio and microphone and corresponding power and reset buttons that we usually find in all chassis on the market.

We continue with the presence on the left side of a large tempered glass window to serve so that the most hardware fans can contemplate the interior of their equipment in all its splendor while it is working, Corsair has thought of a great way that will allow you to enjoy the best form of the advanced lighting systems that we find today in almost all components.

The overall design of the chassis shows a look that seems very successful with the right dose of minimalism while offering an attractive design, the Corsair Carbide 270R it moves away from the very daring designs that seem to be increasingly common. This allows us to offer a product that most users will like despite having quite different tastes. The upper area can be removed to quickly clean the fans.

Like the upper area we can remove the protective ABS plastic to access the chassis through the lower area of the box.

In the rear area we find the rear fan, the plate of the rear connections of the motherboard, the expansion slots and the hole for the power supply.

Interior and going deeper…

The Corsair Carbide 270R has been designed with the aim of offering a chassis that is as compact as possible but that is capable of housing a very high-end equipment and with ample cooling possibilities.

Liquid cooling fans will feel very comfortable with the possibility of installing a 360mm radiator at the front, a 240mm radiator at the top and finally a 120mm radiator at the rear, it is more Of course, the Corsair Carbide 240R allows us to install a maximum performance custom liquid cooling system to extract the full potential of our precious hardware.

The Corsair Carbide 270R offers a large amount of free space around the CPU to allow the installation of an advanced block of water in a very simple way, thus proving once again that it is a chassis that is strongly committed to liquid cooling.

Despite the latter, the chassis includes a 120 mm front and a 120 mm rear fan as standard, with this we already have a fairly acceptable air flow for a large number of users without the need to invest more money, of course if We want to assemble a very powerful team, it is especially recommended to improve the cooling of the box. We can install a maximum of three 120mm fans in the front or two 140mm and two 120/140mm fans at the top to improve air flow and avoid the installation of liquid cooling if we wish.

The abundance of honeycomb-patterned metal zones helps achieve more abundant airflow to lower hardware operating temperatures. Corsair has put dust filters on the front and in the area of the power supply to protect these elements as much as possible from the accumulation of dust that would make cooling difficult.

Also in benefit of the best possible air flow we find an advanced cable management system, which is essential to maintain a very clean interior design and thus prevent air flow from being hindered. We miss the incorporation of protective rubbers in the cable manager. as we have seen in other models.

Now we look at the storage possibilities of the Corsair Carbide 270R and we realize that some bays have had to be sacrificed in order to allow the installation of a more advanced cooling system. Despite this, two 3.5-inch bays and two 2.5-inch bays are offered, which will be more than enough for most users. What we do highlight is the absence of 5.25-inch bays.

The power supply is one of the most important components of all systems, with the Corsair Carbide 270R we will have no problem since it allows us to install any PSU on the market.

Experience and assembly

Assembly has been really fast since Corsair makes it very easy with the Corsair Carbide 270R. We have opted for a high-end device with an i7-6700k processor, 16GB of DDR4 memory, GTX 1050 Ti, 1000W power supply and a 240GB SSD drive. It is not the most balanced configuration but so you have an idea.

It allows us to install a heatsink of up to 170 cm in height, in our heatsink it does not reach that height and the result is really speaks for itself only in the image.

Although in our the GTX 1050 Ti is a fairly compact graphic, the box allows us to install any graphic card on the market, as long as it is a maximum of 37 cm long.

The power supply does not offer any problems, since the cabin is compatible in a total of up to 225 mm. As we see with the RM1000X we are more than enough.

Then I leave you several images of the assembly of the equipment, enjoy it.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Carbide 270R

The Corsair Carbide 270R is a box or chassis with a standard format that allows you to install a wide variety of motherboards, graphics cards and different cooling solutions: air cooler or liquid cooling.

After various tests we can confirm that ergonomics is perfect for assembling our computer with a simple, clean, minimalist and very intuitive design. I would also like to highlight the Direct Airflow Path technology that provides more aggressive airflow to hotter components. This is ideal for the graphics card and our high performance processor.

We recommend reading our guide to liquid cooling, air cooling and fans.

If it is true that it incorporates their respective integrated cable routing compartments, they allow a better assembly, but we find that it does not bring the classic protectors and this is a rather important detail for the design section and that they do not suffer internal wiring.

Its availability is planned for the next few weeks on the Spanish market and its price is truly insane: 69 euros for the model with a window and 59 euros for the model without a window. Which seems incredible to me, because at least it will give us a perfect box for assembling mid-range / high-end gaming equipment from 800 to 1, 200 euros.
