Corsair IRONCLAW RGB is one of the Corsair team's newcomer creations and it aims to further raise the quality and performance of its products. With the new PWM3391 optical sensor manufactured in collaboration with the Pixart company, performance increases to 18000 DPI.

With a design oriented to Palm grip players, it is mainly an ideal gaming mouse due to its excellent precision and customization thanks to iCUE software. Let's see that this analysis offered by the new Corsair gaming component.

We must thank Corsair for trusting us for giving us their product exclusively for analysis.

Corsair IRONCLAW RGB technical characteristics

Unboxing and design

Corsair IRONCLAW RGB has come to us directly from Corsair, in a small cardboard box with corporate colors in yellow and full-color photos of the product it stores inside. On the back we have information on the characteristics of the product, as well as some photos of it, making it very clear that it is manageable using the iCUE software.

We open the box and find the mouse perfectly stored using a cardboard and plastic fixing system that will not escape, even if we want to. Very well worked by the brand in this regard.

At the same time we find the corresponding product documentation consisting of the guarantee and the small instruction book.

Corsair IRONCLAW RGB is a mouse that we have no doubt that it is designed for gaming. This is demonstrated by its characteristics, both technical and design. This new range of mice uses a state- of-the-art PMW3391 optical sensor built by the brand with the invaluable collaboration of the well-known Pixart.

The brand's most advanced sensor, capable of offering a resolution of between 100 and 18, 000 native dpi, adjustable in resolution steps of 1 dpi. Without a doubt one of the highest and most accurate resolutions on the market. We will talk more about its excellent performance later.

We can change this resolution at any time using the central buttons of the equipment and also establish fully customized profiles thanks to the software.

We turn to see the top of this Corsair IRONCLAW RGB, to talk a bit about the button layout and characteristics of its switches. We have an arrangement of the two main buttons of a size quite similar to the width of a finger, and two other buttons in the upper area responsible for setting the resolution. In the central area we have a huge wheel covered with fluted rubber to handle it.

The switches it mounts are ultra-durable Omron type, which will ensure a duration of at least 50 million clicks. With each press we notice a click of medium hardness, if hardly effort in absolutely all of them, the feeling is really good, especially in the main buttons that are ergonomically designed to adapt to our fingers.

Its significant inclination to the right makes the distribution of weights in the right click much better without having to lift your finger from the button. The rear area is wide in both width and depth.

In the lateral area we have a configuration of two buttons of considerable size and enough height to leave space in the area of the big toe. All buttons will be perfectly customizable through iCUE software with the corresponding ability to configure macros.

On each side we have a rough rubber area fully adapted to the shape of the fingers that provides a very soft, yet firm grip. In the left area we have three LEDs indicating the DPI configuration that we have or the one that we want to configure.

The infer zone of this Corsair IRONCLAW RGB has four good-sized Teflon surfers, distributed at the four ends of the mouse. Movement is fast and fluid both on the mat and in smooth wood areas.

For the connection we have a 1.8 meter long braided USB cable.

Grip and sensitivity tests on movement

The approximate measurements of the product are 123 x 80 x 43 mm and a weight of 105 grams, so, without a doubt, we are dealing with an ideal mouse for the type of grip in palm and claw although a little heavy. Except for very large hands, the tip grip is quite complicated because we did not reach the main buttons.

With a hand like mine 100mm wide by 190mm long, the grip I find ideal is the palm grip with a slight separation of the fingers on the main buttons. In this position I have perfect access to all the buttons in the upper area, although I have to lift more than I would like to press the side buttons, the encounters a little high.

The fasteners are very comfortable, to the point of fitting well to my fingers, both on the side areas and the shape and width of the side buttons. It is certainly a mouse designed for big hands, because I feel it fits perfectly with mine.

In the movement you can see that it is a large and somewhat heavy mouse, with difficulties in making very fast movements.

The palm grip of Corsair IRONCLAW RGB is not indicated for all games, so I feel more comfortable with it for RPGs and games where it does not require too much reaction speed as in shooters, since with the hand extended on the mouse we lose precision.

We have performed the typical tests to check the variance of movement by drawing a line in Paint in a physically preset area and at different speeds. The precision is excellent. In the past we have practically all of them have occupied the same extension, and the errors are due to our own interaction.

In pixel skipping tests we have not detected absolutely any step or jump of pixels. The sensor promises a precision of 1ppp and the truth is that it more than meets it.

We also had no problems tracking at high speeds or jittering during the tests with games and the editing of the photos in this review. The 1000Hz Polling rate does its job perfectly.

Movement in rough areas such as our own hand or on the lit screen of a mobile phone has been quite good, which denotes the benefits of this new optical sensor.

We conclude this external analysis and indicated movement that this Corsair IRONCLAW RGB has RGB lighting in the rear logo and in the area of the wheel, although we must say that the latter is quite dim and not very visible. All of it is perfectly configurable using iCUE software.

Firmware and configuration

The software to manage this Corsair IRONCLAW RGB is the iCUE, generic of the brand, and therefore it is not less complete. We will have a lot of modifications available for the hardware.

The first of the options that we see is the possibility of configuring macros. This is ideal for repetitive actions, although creating them is a bit tedious.

Of course we have a section dedicated to the RGB mouse configuration, where we can choose between a large number of animations for its two RGB lighting areas.

We must bear in mind that the mouse has memory to store our profile to be able to use it on different computers without having iCUE installed.

Another section is if the DPI configuration is very important. We can create custom DPI profiles, and assign a lighting type for the side indicators. Then we can assign them to the upper buttons to change it quickly or have to come to iCUE.

This mouse has the possibility of activating both the filter to adjust the position of the pointer in angles and movements. With the option activated it is quite noticeable that the pointer is smoother and slower. Surely for games we should remove this filter and take advantage of what the sensor gives, since it is oriented for precision work in graphic design, for example.

We also have a section for adjusting Corsair IRONCLAW RGB to the mat we are using, and the truth is that after adjusting something better the team feels.

The rest of the options you already look at calmly, because the customization is quite extensive.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair IRONCLAW RGB

Corsair IRONCLAW RGB is a mouse that we liked a lot, both in the performance of its sensor and in its design for large hands. It is a really comfortable mouse for this type of user, details such as RGB lighting and the possibility of customizing it, improve its design.

In terms of performance it is also outstanding, although we do not see a 18000 DPI sensor necessary either, since we will never get to use this resolution, even in 4K resolutions. The precision of the sensor during the tests are immaculate, as expected, so the performance is currently the best.

The feel of the buttons is very good, with very short strokes and just the hardness to avoid accidentally pressing them. In my case I find the side buttons and the middle buttons of DPI a little high, but I have not had problems beyond that.

We also recommend our guide to the best mice on the market

The grip is extremely comfortable with the lateral rubber bands and the ergonomic shapes, although we must bear in mind that it is not an ambidextrous mouse. It fits very well in all respects for palm grip, especially. Users who use the tip type will have it really complicated. As we have said, we find it ideal for open world games and RPGs where the speed of movement is not essential, the palm grip is not more indicated for FPS games, although of course it will depend on each user.

As for the economy, this Corsair IRONCLAW RGB can be found for a price of 60 euros, a very attractive amount if you look at the personalization, design and performance section.
