Technical characteristics Corsair K70 LUX RGB
Unboxing and design
The packaging of the Corsair K70 LUX RGB is filling with color and we see an image of the product on its cover. In addition, the model is printed in large letters and the version of the switches we have chosen.
While in the rear area we have all the technical characteristics of the product.
Once we open the box we find:
- Corsair K70 LUX RGB keyboard. Instruction manual. Wrist rest with rubber surface. Quick guide. Key removal kit and key replacement for FPS and MOBAs.
The Corsair K70 LUX RGB has measurements of 436 x 165 x 38 mm and a weight of 1.2 kg, that is, 300 grams lighter than its previous versions. As we can see in the images, the keyboard continues with its strongest characteristics that differentiates it from the rest: it is built by a premium brushed aluminum surface and a very minimalist design.
This design makes cleaning options much easier and gains many integers in aesthetics.
The keyboard is distributed in 104 keys consisting of the alpha-numeric zone, full numeric keyboard and function keys in the upper zone. Not having specific macro keys, the Corsair application allows us to use any of them as macro keys. We think this is a great advantage, since we can customize the keyboard to our liking. Without a doubt we are in front of one of the best keyboards on the market
In the upper right corner we have the brightness keys, which allows adjusting from 25, 50, 75 to 100% brightness. While the second button allows us to block the Windows key.
We can see that on the sides there is no frame that protects the switches, facilitating the cleaning of the keys and the base of the keyboard itself.
As you have already seen on the web, there are many types of switches: Cherry: MX Red, MX Brown and MX Blue. At the moment it is unknown if the LUX versions with MX Silent switches and the recent MX-RAPIDFIRE will be released. Our sample is the Cherry MX-Brown version ideal for those users looking for a greater typing experience and taking advantage of the benefits of a mechanical keyboard in their favorite games.
View of the two USB cables: the one in charge of the USB 2.0 HUB and the one that powers the keyboard. It is also important to mention the keyboard incorporates both the N-Key Rollover (NKRO) technology and the always useful Anti-Ghosting that improve both the gaming and daily experience.
The Corsair K70 LUX RGB includes the possibility of changing the conventional keys for two sets. The first is for FPS games, that is, the WASD keys. And the second game is for MOBA games with the QWERDF shortcut keys. Obviously it incorporates a small extractor that facilitates the task.
It also incorporates a USB HUB connection and a small “swith” that allows you to switch between 4 profiles that we can customize.
In the rear area we have the rubber feet that offer two positions, and four other rubber bands that prevent the keyboard from slipping, together with a product identification label. It seems to us a very successful design and we congratulate Corsair for the piece of keyboard they have assembled.
We also leave you some images in full operation.
Corsair Utility Engine Software
In order to configure the entire keyboard it is necessary to install the configuration software that we can download from the Corsair official website. Specifically we will lower CUE (Corsair Motor Utility). When we install it, they will surely send us a message of a possible firmware update, we will proceed to update and restart the equipment.
The application is divided into 4 sections, as we already saw in the normal version of the Corsair K70 LUX RGB. It is one of the most advanced and complete applications that have passed through our hands. We briefly summarize all its functions:
- Profiles: allows us to assign macros keys, change the keyboard lighting and activate / deactivate keys or functions in the performance section. Actions we can edit any function and create more complex macros again. For example in speed, combinations with the mouse, etc… Lighting: In this section it allows us a more complex and more advanced lighting. Create combinations with wave, curly, solid… That is, combinations that we had never thought of on a keyboard. The last option is " options " that allows us to check and update the firmware, change the language of the software, modify the multimedia keys and be able to contact Corsair European technical support.
Final words and conclusion about Corsair K70 LUX RGB
The Corsair K70 LUX RGB incorporates the second generation of Cherry MX switches that allows greater longevity and reliability than the first revision, which in itself was really good. Its aluminum structure is very pleasant both to the touch and easy to clean and its RGB lighting system offers great customization possibilities.
We recommend reading our guide to the best keyboards on the market.
The CUE Software allows us maximum customization in lighting, profiles, creating macros and taking our keyboard to maximum performance with the most cutting-edge technologies.
Another of its strongest points is the incorporation of a very ergonomic wrist rest that offers a soft touch. Without a doubt, one of the most comfortable in long gaming sessions.
Currently we can find the keyboard in two variants in Spain: MX-Brown and MX-Red for a price of 169 euros. Definitely one of the best options, not to say the best among mechanical keyboards today.
Did you like the Corsair K70 LUX RGB keyboard as much as we do?
