Corsair Strafe MX Silent: Unboxing and design

As the brand is used to, we see a compact packaging with the corporate colors for the Corsair Strafe MX Silent. On the cover we see an image of the product, the model in large letters and the certificate of the MX-MX SILENT switches. While in the rear area we have all the technical characteristics of the product.

Once we open the box we find:

The Corsair Strafe MX Silent has measures of 448 x 170 x 40 mm and a weight of approximately 900 grams.

It is built by a top-notch plastic surface and a very minimalist design . The simplicity of not covering the platform of the keys allows us to perform a quick cleaning without head heating. Simplicity today is the best we can find.

The keyboard is distributed in 104 keys consisting of the alpha-numeric zone, full numeric keyboard and function keys in the upper zone. Not having specific macro keys, the Corsair application allows us to use any of them as macro keys.

This is not the first version of the Corsair Strafe that we analyzed, but it is undoubtedly the most peculiar due to its characteristics in MX Silent switches. How is it different from other switches on the market? Simply that they are up to 30% quieter, they are made in Germany with Gold-Crosspoint contacts and high pressure resistant metal springs.

In the upper right corner we have the brightness keys, which allows adjusting with a scale of 25% until reaching 100%. While the second button allows us to block the Windows key. This is quite useful, since when we are playing, we usually hit the same key several times and we get warnings from our operating system. The Corsair Strafe MX Silent incorporates N-Key Rollover (NKRO) and Anti-Ghosting technologies that enhance both the gaming and daily experience.

In the rear area we find a USB 3.0 HUB and the cable that goes out to our tower. The cable is completely braided and of the highest quality.

The Corsair Strafe MX Silent includes the possibility to change the conventional keys for two sets. The first is for FPS games, that is, the WASD keys. And the second game is for MOBA games with the QWERDF shortcut keys. Obviously it incorporates a small extractor that facilitates the task.

In the rear area we have 4 rubber feet that offer two positions, and four other rubber bands that prevent the keyboard from slipping, along with a product identification label.

Corsair Utility Engine Software

Every good keyboard must have a software according to its quality. The Corsair Strafe MX Silent has its Corsair Utility Engine software ( totally free ) that allows us to create profiles, actions, lighting and advanced options on the keyboard.

In the first tab we find the option "Profiles", in it it allows us to create assignments, lighting and keyboard performance at the moment. We can create several actions with different profiles, which will give us enough variety when playing a specific game genre.

It also allows us to create macro actions, key combinations, shortcuts, modify the DPI of the mouse, set a timer and a measure control. The kind of customization that Corsair keyboards offer us is really amazing.

In the lighting option it allows us to activate between its profiles "continuous", "gradual", "ripple" and "wave". In addition to inserting or creating our own lighting. From the Corsair Hall of Fame you can download all available profiles.

The Corsair Strafe MX Silent is the first gaming keyboard with noise reduction and you will also enjoy the advantages of a mechanical keyboard. We believe it is one of the best models on the market, since it incorporates everything that is needed to be: aesthetics, customizable lighting with 16.8 million colors, excellent cherry switches, silent and a USB 3.0 connection that allows us to charge our smartphone or use top-of-the-range wireless helmets.

Special mention to its software that is improving every day and with endless periodic updates. We also liked that it incorporates a set of FPS and MOBA keys to improve grip and feel during our games.

Our experience with the keyboard in games is perfect and the rest of the inhabitants of the house who are sleeping at night are very grateful. Who hasn't been told? "That keyboard is heard a lot, type softer"? And in games we have hardly noticed any difference with the MX-Brown switches.
