Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 is a new mechanical keyboard characterized by offering a very quiet operation, something that is possible with the inclusion of the advanced Cherry MX Silent mechanical buttons, although there is also a version with Cherry MX Red for the most gamers.. The rest of its features include a RGB lighting system managed by Corsair iCUE and a design of the best quality so that it lasts many years as new.
First of all, we thank Corsair for the trust placed in ceding the product to us for analysis.
Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 technical characteristics
Unboxing and design
The Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 keyboard is offered to the user in a high-quality cardboard box, ensuring the best possible protection until it reaches the hands of the end user. The design of the case follows the usual color scheme of the brand, with a predominance of black and yellow, showing a high-quality image of the keyboard and its most important characteristics.
We open the box and we find the Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 keyboard together:
- Documentation A key extractor to be able to remove them in a really simple way A detachable wrist rest Instruction manual and quick guide
We already focus our view on the Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 keyboard, it is a full-format model, which means that the number block on the right is included, which will make it ideal for users who need to do a very intensive use of this part.
This keyboard is built with a combination of aluminum and plastic, resulting in a weight of 1.46 Kg and dimensions of 447 mm x 168 mm x 40 mm. For its connection with the PC, a 1.8 meter cable is included that ends in a USB connector, which is gold plated and will allow us to use the iCUE software to manage all the parameters of this keyboard. The keyboard includes 8 MB of built-in memory, allowing all usage profiles to be stored inside and always ready to take you to tournaments and events.
It is a keyboard with NKRO and an ultra polling of 1000 Hz, some characteristics that make it ideal for video game fans, since we will have a very fast response, and the possibility of pressing all the keys at the same time without it collapsing.
Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 includes dedicated buttons for multimedia functions, adjusting the brightness of the lighting and to activate the gaming mode, which deactivates the Windows key to avoid accidental minimizations in the middle of the game.
The keyboard is based on the advanced Cherry MX Silent mechanisms , which have been designed to reduce noise by up to 30%. These are ideal switches for use in environments where silence is required, such as an office for example. These mechanisms offer a level of silence very similar to a membrane keyboard, but with all the benefits of mechanical switches.
These mechanisms have an activation force of 45 grams, an activation travel of 1.9 mm and a total travel of 4 mm. There is also a version with the Cherry MX Red, better suited to play due to their smoother, but noisier operation.
The manufacturer offers us an extra set of keycaps, they are keys with a rough finish that make them ideal for MOBA and FPS games. The texture of these keys will make it much easier to find them in the middle of the action. The quality of the USB cabling is top notch and you need to connect both connectors to have the USB HUB available as the keyboard boot.
Corsair has placed an auxiliary USB port on the Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2, something that will allow us to connect a mouse or a headset in a very comfortable way. It is something that is hard to see lately on keyboards and is greatly appreciated when you have it at your disposal.
In the back we find the rubber feet so that it does not slide on the table, they are really effective along with the high weight of the keyboard. We also see the lifting legs that we can use to improve the ergonomics of use if we wish.
Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 includes a very advanced lighting system, it is an RGB system that we can configure independently for each key.
ICUE software
The software offers us the possibility of synchronizing the keyboard with the rest of the peripherals of the brand compatible with iCUE. The interface of the application is very well organized, this makes it really intuitive and we find each of the options much faster.
ICUE software makes management really easy, with several profiles already preset at the factory and the advanced mode for the most foodies to spend hours configuring their keyboard. We find three key sections:
- Actions: To create different macros and profiles for our keyboard. Lighting Effects: It allows us to personalize through pre-established configurations or create our own profiles. Performance: Super useful to disable some keys (Windows key), pre-set lock colors, brightness, side lighting and profile indicator. A luxury!
Final words and conclusion about Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2
Corsair has renewed its Strafe line with its new Corsair Strafe RGB MK.2 model. A high-performance mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Silent or Cherryt MX Red switches, custom RGB lighting, a 1000 Hz polling rate, anti-ghostting, and NKRO.
Our model incorporates Cherry MX Silent switches that we have already tested on other keyboards. We like this a lot because it resembles the noise of a membrane keyboard but the feeling is of a mechanical keyboard with MX Brown switches. Although if you are used to Cherry MX RED it will be very heavy in long hours of writing .
This week we have been testing the keyboard both day and night, and the loudness level is beastly. In addition, at a technical level it only needs 45G of actuation force and it has a 1.9mm travel. We have been very satisfied with the overall experience.
We recommend reading the best keyboards on the market
Another detail to highlight is a USB HUB that allows us to connect a pendrive or keyboard quickly. And at the software level? iCUE has greatly improved the interface compared to the previous utility. It allows us to customize macros, lighting, and keyboard performance.
The price of the Corsair Strafe RGB MK2 will range from 169.90 euros in Europe and $ 140 in the United States. A price that for some users may be high, but without a doubt, it is a TOP keyboard on the market. Good job Corsair!
