What about after the VOID PRO and HS70 SE? As if this were not enough, the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE have arrived, the top-of-the-range headset from the brand that surpasses all others. These headphones have an exquisite premium design with many metal details, RGB lighting and are extremely comfortable.

But the best is inside, 50mm drivers paired and optimized like no other to give us a stereo or 7.1 surround sound that seems almost real. We can use them wirelessly, through a 3.5 jack or connected by USB to have maximum compatibility. You only have to worry about its price, because they will not be cheap.

And first of all, we thank Corsair for trusting us for giving us these impressive helmets for analysis.

Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE technical features

Unboxing

The presentation of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE is completely at the level of the performance of the product. And it is that we have a nice thick rigid cardboard box in corporate colors, such as black and yellow, which in turn is protected by a second box or lining of the same material that the large-size photo of the product shows us and some of its specifications, although very few of them.

So we will open the box or boxes that are there to find a headset that this time does not come inside any type of plastic mold or anything like that. It has only been placed horizontally and resting on a transport bag made of padded fabric that will serve to store them.

And below, we will find another thin cardboard box that keeps all the rest of the accessories of the product perfectly arranged in a mold of black polyethylene foam.

The bundle consists of the following elements:

  • Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE Headset Carrying Cloth Bag USB Type-C - Type-ACable 4-pole 3.5mm Jack Wireless USB Receiver Microphone Instructions & Warranty

All cables are protected by wire mesh and the receiver is no larger than a storage flash drive.

Premium machined aluminum design

Before looking at the headset, let's take a quick look at the included bag so we can store them. And the truth is that a great job has been done on it, built in synthetic leather and a great padding on all its walls, the bag will allow us to keep the complete headset inside.

But there are also some things that could be optimized. The lid in this case is kept closed by a magnet system, and at least one button-type fastener would not have been left over to provide a little more security. Similarly, we do not have any type of handle to transport it, and it would be the most logical thing for a bag of this type.

Now yes, these Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE are presented to us as the top range headphones of the brand, surpassing their previous creations such as the VOID Pro Wireless and the recent HS70 gaming headphones. The ones we analyzed are the version with the highest cost (SE), which includes multiple finishes in machined aluminum at the aeronautical level according to the brand. We have two other versions a little more conservative for 20 euros less that replace aluminum with hard plastic and are available in black and white.

We are very successful in having a circumaural design and a single bridge headband, providing simplicity and elegance. This SE version is distinguished by having the typical silver color of polished aluminum, which we find in the support of the pavilions, in the pavilions themselves in the form of trims and detail elements of cables and microphone.

The measures of the set are 170 mm wide, 210 mm high and 100 mm deep. We talked about the measures that helmets could take if they were put inside a box. This metal kit offers us a surprisingly low weight of 360 grams, also due to having that simple bridge as a headband.

We now focus on the upper part, where the entire headband arch has been covered with high-density FOAM foam both for the contact area of the head and for the exterior area. Protecting this, we have a black synthetic leather covering, presumably very good quality polyurethane.

The chassis that holds the whole set is basically a fairly stiff steel plate that goes from side to side with terminations fixed by screws. We are not sure if they are aluminum or plastic, since they are completely painted.

In any case, we will obtain a phenomenal ergonomics, since the headband can open from both sides by about 35 mm, making a total of 70 mm to adapt to any head in principle. We say in principle, because the perimeter is quite small compared to other headphones. We have 26 cm closed, and up to 33 cm with the sides unfolded, measuring this distance from the union of the ear pads.

This joining mechanism also allows us to rotate the pavilions 90 degrees to place the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE completely flat. This will be ideal to adapt perfectly to the head or rest it on the ground without the edges suffering. In addition, the turning mechanism is a little hard, to prevent them from slipping out of the ears.

Down, we have a support system completely built in aluminum that is responsible for holding both speakers with a double arm with beveled and polished bores. The system ends in a hinge that will also allow us to slightly rotate the headphones up or down.

Closed circumaural pavilions

Now it is time to focus on the circumaural design of the acoustic canopies of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE. The drivers are installed in a closed chamber facing the outside and open in the area in contact with the ears. In addition, aluminum trims have been used for the outside, while they will be plastic in the other two models.

It is not everything, because in each of these trims we have an RGB lighting system compatible with iCUE although somewhat peculiar. Instead of the typical illuminated plastic logo, micro holes have been made in the aluminum to let the light out. The visual effect it causes is like that of the pixels on a screen, although we should not be confused, it is only an optical effect.

These pavilions are completely round and of considerable size. With meter in hand, we have 55 mm thick pad included, and 100 mm diameter. If we focus on the pads, they are made of premium memory foam for better adaptability to the head. They are 20mm thick, 25mm tall and are tremendously comfortable.

Its insulation is almost absolute, thanks to the high density of the foam and its synthetic leather finish. Inside the ears fit perfectly and also do not make contact with the acoustic filter, which is plastic and is only protected with a layer of breathable fabric. It may be silly, but in a headset of this cost and quality, the manufacturer could have included a pair of cloth ear cushions for use in the summer.

High quality detachable microphone

Last but not least, we must study the design of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE microphone, and also the different cables and elements that make up the bundle.

It could be one of the best microphones we've ever had in a wireless headset, both by design and by its sound capture quality. It is completely removable, and has a length of 14 cm. Both the capture head and the connector are made of aluminum in the SE version, with the same design as the headset.

The connector is Micro-USB type, and has a button on the side with which we can mute the micro directly from it. Between end to end, we have an adjustable rod to any position built in metal and rubber cover. It supports almost any curvature and position without returning to normal. We are not done, because the capture head has a light that indicates whether the mic is on or off.

Finally, it is also worth dedicating some lines to the cables, whose length is 1.5 meters in both copies. Its presentation has been taken care to the point of having a mesh of fabric in both, and some aluminum finishes for the header of each connector. Exactly the same thing happens with the wireless receiver, all of them with ribbed finishes to improve the subjection to the user.

Technical characteristics and experience

Now we are going to focus on the technical section of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE, which, together with the experience it has given us, we will finish this analysis that we have been waiting for.

Buttons and functions

We have not yet seen in detail the buttons on the headset, which are all located on the speakers.

Starting with the left earbud, we have the USB Type-C connector for wired connection and for charging the battery. Next to this, we find the 3.5 mm Jack for analog connection and the Micro USB port to connect the microphone.

In the right earphone we have a button to select the wireless mode and USB / Jack, which will save battery. Above it is the aluminum volume wheel and it offers great travel for a fine and perfect volume adjustment.

We have broad device compatibility, including PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices with 3.5mm cable, USB, or SLIPSTREAM WIRELESS at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Also, the wireless receiver not only supports the headphones, but we can connect a keyboard, mouse and other SLIPSTREAM compatible wireless headphones with just this USB receiver.

In terms of autonomy we are skimming the 20 hours promised by the manufacturer in a full charge cycle. Of course, with the RGB lighting on and at a very long distance we will obviously stay in less hours. The coverage distance more or less the standard, with about 10 to 12 meters with walls in between, the same as the VOID Pro.

Speakers

Starting with the acoustic section, the headset has two drivers built with neodymium magnets and a diameter of 50 mm. This allows you to obtain a deeper bass than 40 mm and listen to the sound in detail thanks to the vibration sensitivity of this magnetic metal.

They are capable of offering a response frequency of between 20 Hz on the lower side and 40, 000 Hz on the higher side. It is twice the frequency that our ears pick up, which only reaches 20, 000 Hz, so this advantage can only be used by our cats and dogs with a finer ear than ours. In any case, it is a show of force on the part of the brand. The impedance is the standard 32 Ω measured at a frequency of 2.5 kHz, and its sensitivity is 109 dB with ± 3 dB error.

We already know that it offers triple connectivity, but the manufacturer reports that the highest sound quality will be obtained through the USB wired connection. Its built-in DAC supports 24-bit, 96 KHz high-fidelity sound, the maximum allowable for example in SABER DACs built into high-end baseplates or Hi-Fi stereo systems. Furthermore, it is capable of reproducing virtual 7.1 sound with surprising quality, which almost seems to be a headset with 8 speakers instead of just two.

Translating the numbers into the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE's listening experience, we have sensational quality. I have seen an improvement between the VOID Pro that I use every day and this headset, especially in the detail with which it is able to reproduce the sound. In fact, I haven't noticed a difference between the sound quality on the wireless connection and the two wired ones which is very good. The board where the headset has been tested features a Realtek ALC1220 codec with a NE3352 headphone amplifier, so the analog output with Jack is also going to be practically the best available today.

These drivers give us, as we say, in great detail in the sound, which we will take advantage of especially in WAV clips that do not cut the quality. The bass is deep and just the right volume for the perfect balance between mid and high frequencies. This, together with the perfect isolation of the pavilions and a very good resonance chamber gives us a very soft sound even at maximum volume.

Microphone

Now it's time to see what the detachable microphone of these Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE offers us. We are presented with an omnidirectional pickup pattern (in all directions) and with an average impedance of 2 k Ω. This is the same as the majority of base microphones have, so we are not misguided. The response frequency is limited to between 100 Hz and 10, 000 Hz, leaving out deep bass and higher pitched sounds. Finally, its sensitivity is -42 dB to offer maximum cleaning in noisy environments.

We leave you a small audio clip that we have tested with Ocenaudio at the highest quality available.

Bypassing the voice in any case, we see that the recording is heard completely clear and without any background noise, even though the tower is right next to me. We could say then that these headphones are perfectly suited for use in streaming, or for content creators on networks or videos. We can say that they are at the level of mid-range desktop microphones that could cost us about 40 - 50 euros.

The capture distance is not too long, but we also do not need to be completely glued to it in order to have an acceptable power. We recommend using it wirelessly or with USB, as the level is perfectly balanced at the factory and the noise suppression is great.

Corsair iCUE software

Nor could we leave behind Corsair iCUE, the software with which we can manage the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE and all other peripherals of the brand. In this case we will not have too many customization options. We have the lighting section. To customize the two logos of the headphones exactly as in the BOID Pro. And the equalizer section to modify the sound output to our liking.

In the general section we have the option to activate virtual 7.1 surround sound, and the possibility of turning the microphone on and off or activating the self- reception function, to listen to ourselves. Finally, in the configuration section we have the RGB brightness settings, the battery status, and other interesting options such as suspension, voice control, or firmware update.

Final words and conclusion about Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE

We come to the end of this review of the Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE, and the truth is that it is difficult to get something that stands out above the rest. Corsair has built an almost round headset, with everything a gamer, content creator or professional needs.

Regarding the design, we have headphones with a simple bridge headband and high quality finishes including elements in polished aluminum, in supports, micro or even cables. For me it is the best decision, elegant, simple and very premium with super comfortable memory pads that dramatically isolate.

Ergonomics is also a plus, since the headband can be increased in diameter up to 7 cm, and its supports can rotate 90 degrees in each earpiece and a little in orientation. To this we add the possibility of removing and putting the microphone when we want. Regarding autonomy, with normal use we are close to 20 hours with a standard coverage of about 10-12 meters.

We recommend reading the best headphones for PC

Regarding the sound quality, it is simply perfect, its 50 mm drivers reproduce the sound in detail. They have a perfect balance in frequencies with very well calibrated bass and great depth. In addition, the virtual 7.1 sound is very successful, we could say that of the best simulated with two speakers.

We do not forget the microphone, which we can say is at the level of mid-range desktop capture equipment. Capture crystal-clear sound at perfect volume and omni-directional pattern. The only thing missing would be for your response to cover the entire audible range, 20 - 20, 000 Hz.

Supports 2.4 GHz wireless connection with a SLIPSTREAM multi-device receiver, wired via USB and analog with Jack. So it can be practically used with all kinds of devices. The cables also have aluminum headers and wire mesh.

Finally we must talk about price and availability, because this Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless SE will appear on the market this September 24 at a price of 199.99 euros in Europe. The black and white versions without "SE" will be priced at 179.99 euros, since they change the finishes in aluminum for plastic. Without a doubt one of the best of the brand currently.
