If you have Windows, Cortana surely has become your preferred voice assistant. It seems not, but on many occasions it can free us from many troubles. In her competition with Siri, for many the champion is Cortana. But undoubtedly the great news we have today is that Microsoft has plans to bring Cortana to fridges, toasters, and thermostats. Can you imagine talking to Cortana from your fridge? This is going to be possible soon and Microsoft has it clear. I could even make the purchase online with you asking.

As we read in The Verge, Microsoft's plans are clear, to bring Cortana to other devices.

Cortana arrives in fridges, toasters and thermostats

Microsoft wants to get the most out of Cortana and now, with The Internet of Things (LoT), it will be possible. The company is currently outlining software requirements to hardware manufacturers to prepare new devices for release.

With this, if things go well, devices with screens capable of achieving a unique experience with Cortana will be allowed. Any smart device with a screen can enjoy Cortana. Microsoft wants to integrate Cortana into toasters, fryers, refrigerators… devices that bring us closer to that future that we have always seen in movies but that is inevitable.

The objective is to create a device capable of listening, understanding and reacting. So that it responds to the user and makes the day to day more bearable. This is the main objective of these devices.

Although Microsoft is not committed to making specific hardware for Cortana, it does have a polished enough software base to allow third parties to build devices with displays, with the goal of having Cortana reach our homes through the front door. Not only on mobile phones, tablets or computers, but also in fridges, thermostats or toasters (we see it in the previous image).

Do you think it will work? We are facing yet another small step towards that connected future that we long for.
