Table of contents:
The LGA 2066 platform is Intel's new bet for the HEDT sector and as always a question arises with the arrival of a new socket, it is about the compatibility of the existing heatsinks on the market and that were not designed for the platform in question. Cryorig has stated that current heatsinks will be compatible with Intel's new high-performance platform.
Cryorig confirms compatibility with LGA 2066
Cryorig has stated that all of its existing models for the 2011-3 LGA socket will be compatible with the new LGA 2066 socket that has arrived to host the Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X processors. Specifically, the list of compatible models includes A-series AIO kits and R1 Ultimate / Universal, R5, C1, H5 Ultimate / Universal and H7 Quad Lumi over-the-air models. This compatibility is due to the fact that the mounting mechanism of LGA 2066 is identical to that of LGA 2011-3 so there is no need to use adapters. Models designed for AM4 will not be compatible with the new Intel platform.
Intel i9-7900X Review in Spanish (Full Review)
This situation is very different from the one that will be experienced with AMD Threadripper processors , until now those of Sunnyvale have not had a HEDT platform, so there are no heatsinks on the market that are compatible with the new Zen-based chips. Threadripper processors implies the need to manufacture new models with a much larger base than those available for AM4, a platform whose processors are much smaller.
