Assassin III was first seen at CES 2019 and the heatsink is marketed as a direct competitor to the legendary Noctua NH-D15, which has been best-in-class for an eternity by lovers of 'non-liquid' cooling.

Deepcool Assassin III arrives as an alternative to Noctua NH-D15

The Assassin III is a dual tower heat sink with seven heat pipes, said to be sintered and internally slotted, with a nickel plated copper heat transfer plate. Deepcool has rated the Assassin III with a 280W TDP, which means it should be able to cool down even the hottest CPUs we can find in AMD and Intel sockets.

A total of forty-one aluminum cooling fins per tower are cooled by two 140mm high-flow PWM fans with fluid-dynamic bearings.

Deepcool has said that it expects a great cooling performance from the Assassin III and that it should even provide better temperatures than the Noctua NH-D15. According to Deepcool, the Assassin III can offer an improvement of at least 1 ° C at 200W TDP over the NH-D15.

Deepcool Assassin III will cover a wide variety of CPU sockets, including major AMD and Intel desktop platforms. However, there are currently no plans for the new Assassin to cover AMD's Threadripper processors.

With an Assassin III price that is likely to be around 90 euros, it will not only compete with the Noctua NH-D15 in terms of performance, but also in price. At the time of writing these lines, the heatsink seems not to be available in Spanish territory yet. We will keep you informed.
